That is why he should stay dead. He's wanted to be dead since the end of the first game. Kratos getting up again, getting some new blades-on-chains and going on some different quest would be stupid.
Oh I completely agree with you that he should stay dead. The best part of the third game was probably the blood trail off everybody`s favorite cliff. The thing is after the bullshit they pulled in the third one I could very well see them bringing him back for some bullshit reason.
You agree!? Oh. Cool. Didn't mean to go all high and mighty then, my bad.

Is there even anything left to kill in that universe?

Epic Ninja.Pretty sure everyone reading this story came here to post that.

But seriously, who is left to be killed?

Was just talking about this today. I want Kratos to fight the Norse Gods for some reason...

A God of War taking place after the events of God of War 3 would be dumb Most of the titans: dead. Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon: dead. There's little left to kill and nothing left to kill could be more grand than what happened in GoW 1-3.

Even if Kratos was the literal villain of the game and you played someone else, it would be dumb. Kratos is very much dead. As dead as you can be without Hades being around anyway.

They could do something I guess, but "Kratos kills everything in Greek mythology" should be over with by now. And if that's not what this game is going to be, why be God of War in the first place.I know there's obvious business reasons for it, but I'd like to think "from the studio that brought you God of War" would be a stronger draw than "it's God of War... Again!"
.
They have ten years of BLANK between GoW1 and when Kratos got enlisted, so they can cram adventures there, like they did with the plots of the game son the portable games. Visiting Atlantis and fighting Apollo, etc.

God of War IV? Sony already announced this a long time ago. I already saw an actual trailer for this some odd months ago. This really isn't anything new.

If they're trying to go any further with this, perhaps, we'll get zombie gods. Well, that or other gods from other religions. Or, maybe, Kratos will enter a parallel universe where all the gods are still alive, but have different names. You know, because of the whole Greek/Roman parallel religion thing, as far as their gods go?

Great, this is starting to sound like what would happen in Sega made the next God of War.

They should let Kratos rest and make a new exciting IP. Whatever deity you might believe in knows we need more original IP's.

I don't care if there's "no gods left to kill", I'm excited. No where else can I get the balletic quality of murder and psychopathy that I get in God of War, that perfect blend of ridiculous but somehow feasible violence, the combination of mythology, reinterpretation, and a singular goal...I can't wait. All five games have been at least a B+, and the series as a whole is one of my favorites of all time.

I need to go. There's a minotaur out there without a dagger in it's throat.

Here is what I hope the plot of this one is: The massive cataclysmic state the world was left in at the end of 3 ends up with small rugged island tribes living on mountain tops created by the flood. Storms are frequent and the world is bleak, however the elements have found new hosts in the Norse gods who rule the island tribes and they live up to their predecessors in ferocity. Kratos, still surviving because of Hades soul/hope nonsense/resurrection by third party is seen as a new problem and is promptly hunted by the new gods for good reasons. Then chaos begins again because its funny that way.

Commence Giants/Ragnarok/Valkyries/Giant wolves and tons of "RAAAW!"

I hope God of War 4 features a new protagonist, and the last boss is Kratos. The guy has it coming.

Haha, I've never even been one to hate the series, but I do find this ridiculous.

Take a xanax Kratos.

Well, the stated purpose of the God of War games was to explain why people don't worship the Greek gods anymore - they were all dicks and ended up getting killed by Kratos, apparently. And now the world is all jacked up because of Pandora's plagues, with only Hope being there for mankind.

And so, my lame-ass plot proposal is that some dude will get superpowers from this magical Hope crap and will resolve to stabilize the clusterfrack that Kratos left the world in, perhaps even killing the man himself. Along the way minor/lesser Greek gods will get in the way, trying to assert dominance since the main pantheon is mostly gone. Since they're all weaker, we have a feasible reason for this new protagonist to not be on divine steroids like Kratos was.

Wasn't there already some vague trailer about what could possibly be the 4th game? With Kratos being the narrator and implying there was another person that he may have trained or something?

Or was that a fan trailer? Or another game altogether?

In any case, I am so looking forward to this game!

Pfft...

Everyone's saying Norse, or Egyptian.

Fuck that.

I want to see him take on the Hindu Pantheon!

It'd be entertainment almost completely untapped by current media and would be awesome! Seriously! Look at that and tell me that wouldn't make an awesome boss fight!

And think about how colourful and visually unique it'd be!
