I still wouldn't buy it if they dropped the price.

The console isn't the problem.

The lack of a decent games library is.
And no backwards compatibility to make up for it.
It does have backwards comparability, what the hell console are you playing?
Oh, did they change it to play all of my PSP games?
Given I've had Vice City Stories and Persona 3 Portable on there since day one, they never needed to change it.
No no no, hear me clearly. The Vita was not made to play the games that I have and own currently on my PSP. That backwards compatibility. It's not essentially an upgraded PSP. It's a new handheld system. Now, has this changed or has it not?
It hasn't changed. Only a fraction of the PSP games are available on the Vita. That other guy is high on Sonydust.

Well thank you for clearing that up, though I will say that between my asking and now, I found this video:

The short answer is indeed "No, Sony has not gone the proper backwards compatibility route". The long answer? A sizable rant about business ethics.

That's cool, but do you know what will get you more sales?
Get a new Monster Hunter game please, do it now, you will get so many sales.
Or just get a port of Tri, don't care just get me some MH.

Keep hearing about this happening, but mostly I think it's them getting Monster Hunter Portable 3 working on the system. But you're right... it wouldn't sell the system anywhere else, but one new unique Monster Hunter game would guarantee sales in Japan for a while.

I think it's a combination of price and content that has it sluggish. PS1 games start becoming available August 28, Ragnarok Odyssey and P4G give it a few RPGs, hopefully one of the shooters being made will be a hit, and a handful of new IPs just got announced at Gamescom. The Cross-buy games are a good way to sweeten the deal, but they really need to have solid unique IPs on the Vita like Gravity Rush to sell it, not just crossplay games and remakes.

Seems that the management shuffle is starting to show, and more good ideas are coming from their end. Hopefully Kaz Hirai can keep the good ideas and trends flowing.

Here's the way I see it: The Vita's price is fair. But it's such an advance piece of hardware that only those who truly understand how it functions and stuff buy the thing, aka knowledgeable gamers. The DSs are just meant to be simple, silly fun for the most part. yeah, they have games like Kid Icarus and Zelda and all but the DS is mostly aimed at children. So a parent, or even a child, might be more inclined to choose a DS over a Vita just because it's simpler to use, especially for a kid who just wants to push pretty buttons. So of course Nintendo would make more money in that situation!

The game library is pretty strong so far and before the end of the year, it will get even better. It does tons of things and it allows cross playing between a PS3 and your Vita. And I hear you'll also be able to buy a single copy of a game but get them both for your PS3 and Vita. For the price of one! That's actually pretty cool.

And for those who want more PS ports, it will get there. Just chill. It barely launched less than a year so. but if you ask me, it's doing great so far, the system.

It's not your fault, Vita. Blame society. *Waves fist at the sky*

Captcha: "Best seller". Something, something, price drops, witty comment.

Current price over here for a WiFi model is £219.99, which I think is reasonable, considering it's £20 more than a PS3 yet is mobile and has a screen (which are fairly big price hikers). Assuming I can play all my PSP downloads on it (I have a lot, mainly Tetris and A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks though) and PS1 titles are on their way, AND Game are doing a £240 bundle that has a 4GB memory card and 3 games with it is a fuckin' bargain. I might just hold off on repairing my PS3 so I can get one.

Hmm... If this price drop is significant enough, and a few more games come out that I'd be interested in, I might need to invest in more pairs of cargo pants.
