Well, here's the thing. We're talking about Sony being hacked, not some lame, weak, new company established 5 minutes ago by three teenagers. Sony has gained a worldwide reputation. The fact that they ventured into the online gaming realm should mean that they knew what they were doing. This includes knowing the potential online risks, a.k.a, hackers, crackers, whatever. In fact, they should have been more careful since they provided a free service. Why didn't the hackers try and pull this with the Xbox (Despite personal issues with Sony or whatever)? Because it wouldn't fly with Microsoft for oh so many reasons.
Now, personally, I'm not kicking Sony while they're down. Despite all this turmoil, I'll keep my PS3. Like I've always said, I've been playing offline my entire life; not playing online for a couple of weeks or months won't kill me. But I'm just disappointed. Disappointed because my personal information and credit card info has been exposed, more than anything. I mean, all of us literally put our trust in Sony and this happened. So I think we're all truly disappointed more than angry or anything else.
I know this was an accident. If they knew this was gonna happen, it wouldn't be an accident. I know they're working day and night in order to fix it. But remember that as consumers, people are hardly gonna stop and consider all this. This is an Instant gratification generation, especially if we're talking about the internet. People just want their stuff now. Yeah, I understand Sony's situation, so I'm just sitting here playing offline without a care in the world, waiting for the servers to come back up, keeping an eye on my bank account just in case. But it's only natural for other people to throw a fit about all this. In a way, they are entitled simply because of Sony's reputation and unwritten promise that they made to us when they decided to get into online gaming.
