Soooo yeah, DBZ Xenoverse 2 Just Got Announced...

My body is ready.

I actually enjoyed the original. Though, I would love to see improvements in certain areas. Giving the various races transformations would be great. Maybe change how Super Saiyan works (I spammed my Supers like anyone else, but it bored me to do so). Definitely make Saiyan's hair change when they transform (may be petty, but it bothered me).

I must be the only person who didn't have an issue with the loot system. The things I always really wanted dropped easily for me. I got Super Saiyan and Super Vegeta on my first try. Think I got Kaio-KenX20 on my first successful try. I really didn't find the skills too difficult to get. Now, clothing was a different story. You would never get a full armor set unless it went on sell.

This could just be from me never having played the first one but my strongest, most immediate thoughts are along the lines of, "We're never getting a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans, are we?" There was a time when Dragon Ball Z made RPGs more than anything and yeah, it's been a long time since the late 80's/early 90's but Attack of the Saiyans was just so damn good...oh well, this is probably just going to be like the original Xenoverse: A game I won't be getting because my internet can't handle online gaming. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Funny you mention that game. I have been looking for it for a while, and finally found it at random at my local Gamestop for $20. Gotta say that I have been enjoying the game. Sadly, I think it didn't sell very well. I really wish there would be a "DBZ: Tyranny of Frieza" RPG, but I don't think we'll get it.

Kinda thinking I may try my hand at writing a review for it after I finish it.

Female Buu is my main. I liked the racial benefits, and just being sentient bubblegum.
Lots of loadouts. Blue Hurricane is my Oozaru buster. I liked Disctructo Disc based moves, and oral blasts, and Majin Kamehameha. That prepare for justice move that boosted stats but disabled locking on to other targets (Blue Huricane oddly overcame that.) is nice. Angry shout is a solid staple of my movesets.

I was about to work on a Human named Machinehead that I'd pretend was an android.

I want the entire roster from Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (I wanna wreck people as Arale!), and whoever they missed, like people from Super.
I want an Agent Mai costume, and the dress Videl wore in that Broly movie.
I'd like a return of the Adventure mode from tenkaichi where you tried to last as long as you could while training.
I'd like a deeper character creation engine.
More co-op in general.

I wouldn't mind an actual Android race. Maybe with assorted customization traits like the palm absorbers, being organic like cell, infinite energy engines, etc. Would prolly be kinda broken, though.
Maybe a general trait system for everyone that could be locked until wished otherwise, or evolved in to with leveling.

Honestly I was really happy with Xenoverse. The only thing I want different, is allow me to make a second character even before I finish story mode with my first.

I still haven't beaten story mode with Majin Malice... But have a good Idea for a human fighter that has to wait.

I watched TFS let's play of it, seems to have a lot of potential but becomes "who's numbers is bigger?". Hopefully they'll listen to complaints.

Also it will be cool if we get another TFS member on vote, having Vegeta will be best.

Xenoverse was bittersweet.

Positives
The character customisation and exploration of the Majiin and Frieza races was much needed in the universe, I also happened to enjoy playing a story that was more than just replaying the Sagas. There was a good amount of fanservice too with the what ifs and Parallel Quests.

Negatives
The art was lovely, but the animations and engine driven cutscenes were stiff. They also recycled a lot of dialoge, leaving it feeling more stilted than normal.
Then you have the oft bemoaned state of Saiyans. Super Saiyan was just overpowered and when combined with other abilities it left other races feeling secondary.
Then you have the loot system. Parallel Quests giving you absurdly hard objectives isn't a problem, but having loot drops based on those objectives still tied to an RNG is insane.

As far as what I want for Xenoverse 2?

- A complete revision of the way Parallel Quest loot drops.
- Race transformations. Mutations for the Frieza race; Super Namek for Namekians; Unlock Potential and/or Maximum Power (? la Roshi) for Humans and finally absorbtion based transformations for Majin.
- Greater customisation. Broly body types for Saiyans; Kid, Super and Evil variations for Majin. I feel like it's something simple that they really missed in the first games.
- Exploring parallel timelines. The Cell Saga introduced alternate timelines where things were much different, why not really ramp that up? Delve deep into other timelines where characters and worlds are vastly different. The death of Goku was enough to give birth to a completely different Trunks and Gohan, I wanna see more of that.
- More viable builds. Whether it's for PvP or PvE, Super Attacks reigned supreme in Xenoverse. But if you've built a melee-defence focused Namek you should be able to deflect and shrug off some Supers to close in for a brawl.
- More Races? I put a question mark because I'm not sure how that'll go over. Androids are a definite, you could easily customise them enough to differentiate them from humans. But there aren't any other races with enough hard lore, so an option for "Alien" with a variety of customisations would be nice.
- Clothing needs an overhaul. The stats forced your 'class' into certain outfits if you wanted to be effective online. Why not just remove them or simply have slots you can equip statted accessories like sashes, belts, scouters, weighted undershirts etc. Also just lift the colour customisation restrictions. Why do we been eight variations on Goku's gi, when one with some customisation would do.
- Budokai style world exploration. I just want to fly all over the world. It's pretty simple.

All in all I think the series has potential if they actually continue to improve. My history with Dragonball games is spotty. None of them are what I'd call bad, they just tend to be frustratingly average with lots of potential. Ultimate Tenkaichi nailed the customisation and then the combat was total garbage. Meanwhile Raging Blast 2 had so many characters and great animations, but the story mode was awful.

As good as it was, Xenoverse 1 had some really painfully obvious flaws and unused potential, most of which coming from some real obvious laziness on Namco Bandi's part, like the lack of transformations for races other than Saiyans and not so great customization options as you mentioned. I'm guessing Namco Bandai won't really pull out the stops until the third game, just like what happens with any particular series of DBZ games. I was actually kind of disappointed after seeing the trailer because based on that it seems like Xenoverse 2 is going to be basically the same thing Xenoverse 1 was for the most but with some improvements and more story fights added on, probably the same basic story too.

It won't happen, but I'd like to see a storyline where you have to sabotage the heroes' efforts so they won't screw themselves over later on.
Like making sure Goku dies fighting Raditz so he can learn Kaioken/Spirit Bomb, or killing Gohan in Trunks' future so the kid can unlock Super Saiyan.

Gotta say that would be pretty sweet. Who knows? They've gotta shake up the formula somehow, can't just have you go through the timeline again and fix the major events in favor of the good guys...maybe we will get a few missions where we're fighting for the bad guys.

That's basically what a good deal of the parallel quests were, but it was just a bunch of random fights with conditions attached. Parallel quests would have had a lot more meaning if they were treated like actual side stories instead of just a bunch of fights that barely had any more to them than the Vs battles you could've set up. It would be pretty entertaining to see storylines that have the changes to the timelines play out somewhere along the lines of "X changes occurred here, therefore timeline Y resulted" and having to see the long term repercussions of that. Rather than simply trying to put everything back to the way it was, maybe have the player ending up having to live with the timeline changes and instead try to work around them to create a more positive result.

One thing that would help with the story a lot is if everyone besides just Time Patroller Trunks and Supreme Kai of Time treated your character like they actually EXISTED. Most of the time the characters rarely even acknowledge you're there, and when they do it's just something akin to "hey, this guy showed up, what's with that guy?" I could count the number of times anyone but the Xenoverse specific villains interacted with your character on one hand, and even then it was a pretty short and token interaction, not helped by the fact that your character never talks either.

I'm guessing Namco Bandai won't really pull out the stops until the third game, just like what happens with any particular series of DBZ games. I was actually kind of disappointed after seeing the trailer because based on that it seems like Xenoverse 2 is going to be basically the same thing Xenoverse 1 was for the most but with some improvements and more story fights added on, probably the same basic story too.

I have the feeling that the only reason it was so well recieved is because of the customisation and race selection. Had it been any other Dragonball game, it would have been trashed by critics and users. As far as the story goes, looking back through the history of the franchise I've probably killed Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu several dozen times each. Xenoverse at least tried to do something different to give you a degree of agency. One thing in particular I took away from the trailer was the cutscenes. Xenoverse was gorgeous but the animation was stiff as hell, the two in the trailer for 2 looked fluid. It was faithfully animated meets cgi, particularly the Trunks scene from The History of Trunks.

Nah, to be fair that's only the first half. After the Frieza Saga no one gives a shit about power levels. I mean hell, at the current time Goku and Vegeta can literally turn into gods whenever they so desire.

What would I like to see? From the ground up:

More Character Customization options. I want to make a Dog-person, or a Dragonman. I want to make a fat female Majin, and a non-fat male Majin, and maybe something in between. I want to make a dude(or a lady) as big as Nappa or Recoome. I want to make an alien like Burter or Dodoria. I want more clothing options. I want to make minor adjustments to my character without having to find the freakin' Dragon Balls. I want less clothes restricted by race, and if possible, stuff from any other Toriyama works you can get your hands on. I want non-Saiyan transformations, and if at all possible, the ability to play as an Oozaru and/or giant Namek. And cool it with the hidden effects just a bit. If I want to make a small bruiser or a big blaster, don't penalize me so much.

Oh, and I want to be able to choose the color of my Aura/Ki blasts. Maybe their shape, too. In fact, give me some options to develop my own Super and Ultimate moves. Nothing too fancy, just stuff like Beam vs Ball; One-handed, Two-handed, or Double-handed; charge times, additonal effects like immobilization, maybe some movement options too. As I level up, I can gain a higher "power level" that allows me to gain or stack more effects.

Training: Part of this goes into customization, but in lieu of/addition to simply asking to be able to choose or change my fighting style, I'd like to be able to gain a character's throws and basic attacks/combos when training with them. Yes, there can be restrictions, like only Nameks and Majins being able to use stretchy moves.

The City: Make it bigger, and give me more options for moving around. Don't give us a piddly little hop that can't even jump over a damn bench. Let me fly through the city and visit those platforms. Let me buy a vehicle (like a Space Pod, Namekian ship, or one of Bulma's many, many aircars) or a house.

Combat: For various reasons Xenoverse was the first(and only) DBZ game I ever really played, so I can't compare how it was against Budokai, Raging Blast, and the like, but even I could see it needed a little tightening up. On top of that though, I have some more suggestions:

- I'd like to have a way of gaining the upper hand in a clash.
- I want destruction to be more extensive and permanent. I wanna put Freeza and his goons through a mountain.
- Better gross aim correction on supers and ultimates. Even if a shot misses, it should always be at least in the enemy's general direction unless they Instant Transmission-ed/flash stepped at the last second.

Missions: Please ease up on the Random Number God. You don't need to trick or force us into playing the game more. The latest Monster Hunter game is giving players an out by allowing them to substitute large numbers of common drops for rare ones, but that's just one option. How about automatically ticking up the drop rate a bit each time a given mission is played consecutively? or giving us a luck stat that adds to that rate? And ease up on the marathon missions and "X must survive" escorts? Or at least allow us to use our items on them. Also, can we just straight-up get character clothing as full sets instead of one piece at a time(and hope it's not a part you already have)?

Don't know about cars and houses, but judging by the trailer at 12 seconds, 16 seconds, and 20 seconds: the city will indeed be larger and apparently allow for flying around inside it. :3

I'd say Xenoverse 1 was received so well because it finally gave basically everything DBZ fans have been asking for, without failing on any of it in particular like they did with the combat system and Ultimate Tenkaichi. Xenoverse 1's mechanics and story were decent, nothing was exceptional but everything was workable, and that was enough for the fans for a first effort. However, after what Xenoverse 1 offered Namco Bandai isn't going to be able to just give us all the same game again with some tweaks and still get the warm reception Xenoverse 1 did, it set the bar too high.

Me, I'm going to wait until Xenoverse 2 already been released for a few weeks so I can get an accurate reading of the actual changes that have been made over Xenoverse 1 before I even consider purchasing it, unlike Xenoverse 1 which I picked up day one.
