Hiya escapists.

I just caught a cold, and my sinuses are killing me; so I figured I'd go on here and ask:
What do you do to soothe a cold? Does it help?

I've tried drinking tea, drinking tea with honey, eating honey and taking ibuprofen. Still my sinuses/throat feels like it's lined with something between sanding paper and barbed wire.

You can steam it out, although that only works for a couple of minuten after you stop. Otherwise, continue the tea and honey treatment.

I have a cold too :(
I think I've got some cough medicine lying around, but it won't have much of an effect, because the infection hasn't moved to my throat yet. The pain I'm experiencing is mostly centered around the uvula.

I like to use Dayquil and Nyquil. I think it works really well, it cleans out your sinuses and the Dayquil keeps you awake and the the nyquil puts you to sleep.

You might have Uvulitis. Is it swollen?

Soup and sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

Of course I did this fully clothed and with my air conditioner on. Don't do that. It makes it worse.

No it isn't. And just forget I said anything; turns out it just moved down my throat.

Edit: The pain, that is, not the uvula.

I hear about those two all the time on the internet, but I don't think they sell it over here.

Winner winner, chicken soup.
I try not to blow my nose while I have a cold, because the muckus has a reason to be there.
U can always swallow some of that horrible medicinal honey if all else fails.

I never take any kind of medicine when i catch a cold, unless being force to.

What i did was simply eat food with herb and spice in it,especially the one that has Ginger,Lemongrass, and Tamarine leaves.

You can also try making ginger juice, and Lemongrass juice.

Ginger Juice is pretty straightforward to make: Smash and Chop Ginger to pieces, then boil it for 5 minute using weak fire, then drink the juice. try drinking it after a meal the taste of it is relative to the portion of water and ginger.

Lemon Grass juice is the same as Ginger Juice,it's just that you use both Lemon Grass and Ginger.

I also have something that could help your sinuses.

Put a grab of Tamarine leaves in a pot, boil them. Smash some onions(3-4 is enough) then put it in that pot. then smell whatever that comes out,(just pretend it's a sauna pot for your nose) don't drink the water though,it taste awful, but you could use it as a bathing water if you want.

I tend to buy chicken flavour Super Noodles and make sure to make them via keeping them in boiled water for 5-10 minutes, after eating them I find drinking the (Chicken flavour) water makes all my symptoms go away for 1-5 hours dependant on the severity of the cold.

Gah... now I'm hungry :(

Will beef flavour noodles do?

Edit: For my cold, that is, not for your being hungry.

Drink a lot of water and/or chicken soup, stay in bed, away from screens or books of any kind, moan a lot, and take as much cold and flu medication as I can without overdosing. It actually helps, for some weird reason. You can just buy it at a pharmacy, or even at a supermarket. Maybe it's just a placebo effect though. Just get a lot of rest, drink lots of water, and wait it out. Hope you get better soon.

What I normally do is stay in my room all day and exaggerate the symptoms as much as I can in the vain of hope of missing some school. Never fooled anyone yet, sadly.

I usually try to keep as warm as I can. To the point of sweat. But be careful not to lose too much warmth to it. Yesterday it worked as a charm and I got rid of a cold in just one night.

Should do, I only get Chicken ones because I like chicken...

Sometimes adding Chilli to it helps bring back taste, for those bad cases :)

I usually find that instead of tea a mixture of honey, squeezed lemon, hot water and a bit of ginger will soothe it for at least a bit.

I know this because I'm drinking it right now. I hate colds.
