Okay, I'm outside of the US, and beyond a couple of petitions, I couldn't do much against sopa. I don't have a senator to contact, quite frankly.
Also, the story has recieved precious little coverage in the UK, so I decided for me and everyone else who can't quite get to grips with the story, I'd ask the forum, and we could get a discussion going while we're at it.
Okay, Firstly, when we will know what way the vote went? Will there be a press conference, or will I just wake up one day and realise that nobody on the escapist calls football soccer anymore (I kid, I kid...)
Secondly, How? How do they plan to enforce this? How exactly does the plan take shape? I ain't all that smart with the technical terms (But unlike US government, I'm not claiming to be) so this is a little confusing. Could they literally sue for anything on the internet that could even be ever so slightly related to someone's property? How many companies will even bother with such massive legal action? Aside from Fox? How does the US government intend on coping in a failing economy with formally profitable websites being taken down or sued out of house and home?
And for discussion, do you think this will go through? And if it does, how do you think the world will cope with such a heavily regulated internet?
Personally, based on what I know of SOPA, I don't think this is a workable law. How could they possibly enforce it effectively? And I know politicians only care for themselves, but can't they see the possible economic damage this could bring?
