Okay, so by now most of you know all about SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act) simply put, it's a draconian bill that could potentially cause internet censorship in the United States due to it's broad wording if passed.
Now, I hate this thing. (Almost as much as that homophobic bill in Russia but there's nothing I can do about that) And I sincerely hope the US congress will make the right decision and throw it out. but everyone seems to be on edge about it, and I'd like to calm everyone about it real quick by pointing out that as it stands this legislation will most likely not become law.
This does NOT give you an excuse to not fight it, I expect all of you to click the below link and send a letter to congress, or join our national call in.

Okay, for starters, the aforementioned site and many like it have DROWNED the US house of representatives and senators with calls and emails requesting them to vote no, or at least informing them of the dangers of this bill, we've given it a very bad name, and there is not a single lawmaker with pushing power in this matter who doesn't know that the majority of Americans oppose SOPA. If any of them want to get re-elected they will vote no, 'cause who voted yes and who voted no is going on the house's website. If there's anything politicians do not want it's bad PR.
Also, the numbers of representatives who support SOPA is relatively small, and there's a nice number of them who oppose it within the house it's self. Also Barrack Obama has already publicly stated that he will support net neutrality and if by some miracle this bill does pass the house, he has promised to veto it. The only way for this bill become law then will be if the house get's a 2/3 majority to override the veto, which is just plain not happening.
Also a hot topic is the similar PROTECT IP act, which is slightly less draconian than SOPA, but not by much. This one's already doomed if you ask me, not only has Obama stated the same Veto threat as before, but Senator Ron Wyden has threatened a filibuster which is already scaring off some supporters. Also, no bill has ever passed the united states senate with less than 41 avid supporters within the senate it's self, PIPA only has 30, the odds are in our favor. Plus, it's not even an original bill, it's just a re-write of COICA, a bill that was already shot down in 2010, which had about the same amount of support, and still didn't pass.
So, SOPA and PIPA, probably not passing, but to be sure we should keep on fighting it and raising public awareness. again, below is a link to a letter writing and call in campaign to petition against it, I expect EVERYONE who reads this to sign up IMMEDIATELY.
