Well my fellow escapists, it is the final week from what I've heard, may be a bit longer, but I don't know, but it's not long to get your complaints in to stop the American government changing the face of the internet and freedom of speech as we know it.

"This Thursday, a bill that would create America?s first Internet censorship system is going to a full committee for a vote, and is likely to pass."

We really need to act now guiz, this site will lose about 95% of it's content if the bill is passed. I urge every American reader to vote here http://americancensorship.org/ and get your say in, I'm not sure if it works for people overseas, but try! TRY DAMMIT!

Obama would never sign this, not with the oncoming election and his biggest base in the 20 and 30 somethings. Moreover, it's just going for markup in the House. Nothing at all is definite yet.

I'm not worried. The system may be pretty fucked up but it isn't that bad.

I really don't want to see Canada stepping in line with America with this act so I'd really rather not have it go through. I have faith in Obama going for a veto but... I'm going to worry anyway.

i called my senators and my congressmen, not sure what else i can do. I've raised awareness and told anyone who would listen. all i can do is hope it doesn't pass and protest and rail against if it does.

the scary part is obama may not be in office 13 months from now. and that bill, if they know obama would not sign on it, can easily sit in commitee and on the shelf until someone favorable to it is in office to pass it. it's not a matter o whether it will or won't get passed, it's that it's being considered at all.
