I'm still not sure about this game either way. I'll wait for some reviews. The Screwattack hands on made it sound kinda lame. Maybe the stealth aspects and the boss fights can save it, but, yeah, we'll see.

Reviews are just a persons opinion. I say form your own opinion on a game by renting it instead of buying it.

Renting is iffy in some place/ for some people. I know some places in the US charge like $10ish for a game rental, that's 1/6th of the game cost, at that point renting to me is a bit pointless. Also, last I check game rentals were like 5 days. Reading a collection of reviews + playing a demo is cheaper and should give a person a decent idea.

Never thought about the demo aspect. Reviews are alright but as I said they are another persons opinion. I just form my own opinion.

Arkham Asylum looks awesome, but the gameplay for the Joker seems a little...stupid.

I know he's the JOKER and all, and he's the proper one, not the (awesome) realsitic scitzo one from Dark Knight, but it still feels a little dumb, a little like Romano or someone (the Joker from the TV series)

I'd prefer to keep the Joker as a deluded, frightening nemisis, not a neck-breaking ninja moron

Why shouldn't Xbox 360 owners get exclusive Arkham Asylum DLC too, in the form of a new character playable in challenge rooms? Why is the PS3 the only console getting all the new stuff? The 'console wars' are already insufferable without giving fanboys more ammunition.

I take it you only own a PS3, correct? In that case, I can understand why you're happy with the 360 not getting any exclusive DLC for this game - if I had only one of the current-gen consoles I'd be trying to put the other one down too.

First, the Batman Arkham Asylum DLC is only one DLC that the PS3 got.
The Xbox 360 got timed exclusivity on Fallout 3's DLC and Modern Warfare 2's DLC.
Also, the Xbox 360 got exclusivity on Tomb Raider: Underworld's DLC and GTA IV's two big DLC packs.

And no, I don't own an Xbox 360, though I did.
I sold it to buy a PS3.

And why am I getting badmouthed for trying to put the other one down when I have facts that this is only one DLC that the PS3 gets, and Xbox 360 has aplenty, when that's basically what Indigo_Dingo does everywhere?

This is why I qualified with good. I'll give you MGS4 (not my cup of tea, but yeah, alright) and Valkyria Chronicles, but Killzone 2 is Call of Duty 4 with a worse plotline, Resistance (and 2) is Halo with nicer graphics (and, considering the time distance, it bloody well should have!), and InFamous, while an exclusive, is overshadowed by Crackdown, which was a 360 exclusive that still has far more style.

And oh my god, before everyone starts, yes, I have played them all! For my sins, I still own Killzone 2. Probably been too long to trade it in for a decent ammount of cash...

Aside from the fact that the PS3 has several flaws with it, and except all the exclusives it has, the Xbox 360 was and is a better console, the PS3 must get atleast some exclusives, in order to stay on the market.

Also, when GTA IV DLC came out, I could've said almost everything you're spouting out right now to you, so you don't have anything to prove too.

Most likely the 360 will either get the Joker slightly later or another character and yeah if it is another mini story line that could just mess up the game than make it better. It will be interesting to see how they deal with it.

For X amount of months... then it'll be on Xbox live as DLC for $10. I can all but guarantee it.

I really don't mind the Joker exclusive. If the game turns out to play as well as it looks, I'm not going to be playing it for the Joker. I'm playing it for Batman.

I dont know why people are even discussing this. All this sort of exclusive does is move a few extra units right out the gate with the promise that if you buy THIS version NOW, you'll get this free EXTRA content that you might or might not even play with once you get and play (or even beat) the game. For all you know, you might buy the game and it's a buggy broken craptastic experience that makes you chuck it under the nearest sweaty glass on your coffee table.

At least later, people on the xbox side will get the CHOICE to purchase it as extra content, depending on how they feel about the GAME.

I'd personally have preferred a online coop mode with selectable other batman sidekicks, not just Robin... or even instead of the Joker, using any NUMBER of other people from the batman universe to go through the game... like a Playable Nightwing, or Huntress (my favorite character in the batman universe), or Azrael , Jason Todd.

Hell, I'd rather play as Hush than the Joker, if given a choice.

Chances are, the xbox DLC when it comes (not if) might give that option (especially if the developers read these forums and rip off my idea..)

Dude, I'm not going to ever BUY a system because of exclusive content for ONE game that hasn't even been RELEASED yet, played, tested, or even exclusive... I'm telling you for a fact that this Joker level will be downloadable on Xbox live in under a year, I'd bet you my PS3. And I especially wouldnt go and buy a more expensive system just for one game.
You'd have to be Crazzee to do something like that...

It's also been rumored that the 360 users are gonna get a level as the Riddler. I'd rather have Joker, though.

Eh, when it comes to Batman's rogues gallery, I honestly PREFER the Riddler to the Joker.. The Joker is chaotic and dangerous yes, but Edward Nigma only did it for the fun of the game and was so deliciously brilliant. I love how he is now a private investigator in the Batman universe for a while. Hell, at one point even Batman referred to him for help because he respected his deductive mind and abilities.

I'm sincerely hoping to see the Riddler as the next villain in a Dark Knight sequel.. and i'm hoping Hugh Laurie is cast as the Riddler. I can see him walking around Batman with his cane in a menacing fashion as Christian Bale looks angry and him saying

Riddler: "Riddle me THIS, Bat.. MAN.. How many costumed freaks does it take to save Gotham?"

Batman: "Just one... MEeeeeee.."

Riddler: "WRONG! No one can save Gotham..."

Well OF COURSE it's not JUST for that. I want MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet, and PSN is pretty great IMO. The Joker level is just a determining sort of factor. I mean, I might just buy the PS3 and keep my 360.

And that entire second part would be awesome. Riddler is my favorite villain, it's just that Joker's gameplay looks way more interesting than I think Riddler's can be...at least, from what I remember. I need to watch the old movies and series again.
And, y'know, people keep saying "Johnny Depp for Riddler!" I think Hugh Laurie would be absolutely brilliant in this role. Johnny Depp is okay, and all, but he just doesn't seem like the right person to play the Riddler.
