My fellow Soundgarden fans, what do you think of their newest release since their reunion (Black Rain doesn't count)?

Personally, the chorus is kind of growing on me. However, the verse reeks too much of Chris's lacklustre solo work. And the 'warm my face, warm your face' lyrics in the bridge are a wtf moment for me. The solo sounds like Kim is just spazzing on the guitar.

All the negative aside, it's not close to being my least favourite of their songs, it's just a far cry from the Superunknown material I like so much.

Not sure if I would call myself a fan, I only like about 20 of their songs.

This is pretty good though, even though I don't like how Chris sounds in the chorus and WTF at the 'warm your face' as well. Still counts as 21 though.

Is this an album or just a single?

Sounds more like Audioslave than Soundgarden to be honest both in lyrical tone and musical structure.

I'm on a painfully slow connection at the moment so regrettably I can't listen, but it's a Soundgarden thread so I'll participate nonetheless. Big fan, particularly of Badmotorfinger and some of their earlier material. Actually I had a pretty interesting encounter the other day relating to this. I was in a music store, browsing, and overheard a couple of guys talking of about how "no-one knows that Audioslave was actually before Soundgarden man, they played Black Hole Sun in 1991 then Soundgarden adopted it." I was just so perplexed that I stood there in shocked silence.
Wow. Audioslave came out pretty late, too. I'm pretty young but in sometime in middle school I figured out that Audioslave was fronted by Chris Cornell.

I probably would have quickly corrected them but also asked where they even read/heard such a retarded 'fact'.

It's just a single off of the Avengers soundtrack. I can't say if it's also their way of slowly getting exposure before the release of a new album.

Thanks. Might buy it if I like some of the other tracks.

guitar was okay, but the singing was boring. I generally enjoy soundgarden, but this did sound like audioslave, which IMO is perhaps the most disappointing team-up of all time. Some how they took 2 energetic, interesting bands and made it blandish rock stuff.

But they have a new one? Really? I follow music pretty closely and I gotta say I never heard of it.
Nope, no new album announcements yet. However, it's been 15 years since they first broke up. Releasing this single on a high profile movie's soundtrack will help give a new generation of music listeners exposure to Soundgarden.

Saw Soundgarden live when they came to Australia. It was, spoiler alert, awesome.

As for the new song, I like it. Plus it's got the Avengers connection, which is a plus.
