What do you know about it? How do you feel about it?
I'm possibly going there at some point in the near future, so I'm trying to sort the jumbled mess that is my memories of my Asian studies courses. What better way to do so than through talking with nerds on a gaming forum conversation?

Starcraft is the national sport.
PC gaming is quite popular there.
Japanese products are frowned upon.
Lots o' barbecue.

South Korea is pretty cool. I have a friend from there, it is very different to the North so don't berate it as it shares half a name. They split for a reason.

Don't head too far North, they have bad neighbors. Also, learn to play Starcraft. I don't know mush else though.

Have friends from there. There awesome. Once my Korean friend destroyed seasoned pros in DOTA and it was his first time playing. Hes really cool. I have yet to find another person even vaguely similar to him. I would easily say he's the coolest asian. EVER.

Seoul is modern, extremely large (one of the largest cities in the world) and busy. Nearly 11 million people reside in Seoul and outlying areas. Rural Korea is quite different, farms mostly.

The people are generally welcoming to foreigners and almost all Korean's speak English to a small degree. The food is spicy, and they eat every part of the animal. There's a healthy gaming culture for both sexes, and cheap places to use the internet it's about 1$ US an hour for an internet cafe.

Anyway, if you have any specific questions I am on IRC.

They don't like the Japanese. I some ask a Korean if he was Japanese and got his arse kicked for it. There's still a lot of animosity between the two from the second world war (i've been told) and then again from Japanese exploitation of the economy and people (no offense intended towards any Japanese out there, this is simply what a couple of Koreans told me).

Also if you stray to close to the north border, the North might kidnap you and say you were trying to sneak across to spy on their beloved communist regime and assassinate their beloved tyrant.
