South Park passed it's prime 3 years ago.
Two points here. Firstly, even accepting that as true, South Park past its prime is still a hell of a lot better than most of the rest of the crap on TV.

Secondly, I think anyone who says something like that about South Park should go and watch the first episode, then really think about what they just said. For those who can't be bothered to actually do that, here's a summary. The episode is called "Cartman gets an anal probe". The plot is that Cartman gets an anal probe. Seriously, that's it. There are a bunch of fart jokes, and things go in and out of Cartman's ass. He even says almost exactly that line to point out to the audience that the entire episode has consisted of nothing more than that. It was reasonably amusing, in an extremely over-the-top offensive kind of way, but it's not exactly the height of political and social satire.

So before criticising South Park for not being as good as it used to be, remember how it actually used to be. Sure, some episodes are better than others. Sometimes there's incisive social commentary. Sometimes they just take the piss out of things for the hell of it without caring one way or the other. And sometimes it's just fart jokes. While I haven't seen the most recent series, being in the UK without sky or cable, from what I've heard nothing has really changed. Sometimes it's trying to make a point and may or may not succeed depending on your point of view, and sometimes it's just over-the-top offensive nonsense, just as it always has been.

Newest episode was about 20% funny. That 20% being Cartman's Yo Momma Jokes and the final 30 seconds.

I wouldn't have much of a problem with this... except that the brilliant episode "You're Getting Old" pointed out how overdone it all is... then they go and do a Goddamned snapback anyway! *SIGH*

Otherwise, I'm kinda meh, about it all, I don't watch South Park too much... unless a good episode's on.

Bugger! I was hoping it would die. I can't even watch more than 5 minutes of any episode after half way through season 13.

Funny how The Simpsons and South Park started declining in quality at the same season, maybe this is a sign.

When will people learn. South Park passed it's prime 3 years ago. Let it die. But big business can't stop from milking the cow till it's dead.

Though I don't watch the show, so I could care less I guess.
It's prime was season 8. But still the series remains hilarious, there are some lamer eps granted but this season has given us the human centipad, city sushi and 1%, the first being one that I think will become a classic.
The Humancentipad is the only episode of South Park that I don't like, I laughed twice once when Cartman got hit by lightning and once again when he started crying right after. That entire stretch of episode were kind of lack luster, but humancentipad was the low.
Well you must be in the minority everyone who I know who has seen it found the episode brilliant. Especially the 'before you fuck me' gags.

Plus I know people who have refused to update itunes after watching that ep!

It was a good one. No question.

Well you and them must really not like Southpark that much. The episode is classic Southpark all over.

Man, what a run. I look mostly forward to it. Horace and Juvenal hadn't done satire this good, for this long, so there's definitely something keeping here.

Again I have watched every episode of South Park and loved every single one except for the Humancentidpad, there was too much crammed into one episode and nowhere near the amount of wit that is normally contained in a South Park episode. Also just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean that you should start making assumptions about my likes and dislikes

That recent episode with cartman and his dolls proved without a doubt to me that south park "still has it", quality may vary a bit but they seem to pull out genuinely great episodes on a regular enough basis to justify the series continued exitence.
That particular episode managed to make me genuinely disturbed (especially by the ending... xD), hold my stomach in stitches and be a bit sad all at same time , so bravo.

Allright, bring on another 3 seasons then :)

So when the simpsons go on and on, everyone chastises them. But South park is going on and on (and its getting old fast), its supposed to be good news.

...

Eh. I dont care to be honest really. However if this interferes with more Futurama, there will be hell to pay!

First Few South Park Episodes: Fart jokes, fat jokes, and killing Kenny.

Recent Episodes: Brilliant and hilarious send-ups of current events and trends, and Kenny's resurrections get explained.

Conclusion: South Park gets better with age!
