Space Combat Simulators

I've always been a huge fan of Space Combat Simulators. But it's hard to find a list of really good games. I have this joystick that I feel is going to waste. Don't get me wrong, I love playing TIE Fighter, but I've been playing that game for years now, and it's been done to death for me. I've also played the FreeSpace games, the rest of the X-Wing series, StarLancer, and I'm currently working my way through the Wing Commander series. But what I'm wondering is what good games are out there that still use a joystick? I liked FreeLancer enough, but it just didn't feel right for me using the mouse to fly. It just didn't feel right to me.

So, any suggestions?

I think star wars battlefront games have space combat levels. Can't think of anything else right now.

I was going to mention Freelancer, but you mentioned that in your post (Still, it was a brilliant game, but they canceled the second game last year) and Star Trek Online, but that has already been mentioned. Still, it can be fun.
On a side no, I have fallen in love with my beautiful ship, the U.S.S. Combat Wombat.
Sorry, I can't help myself...

There are those F2P MMO games with spaceships(ACE Online and the like). Otherwise I think everything else that comes to mind has been said.

Damn, that's a good question.

Uh, about the closest I can think of is Orbiter. [http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/]

It's a freeware space-sim game that uses realistic physics and the like. I find it's interesting just from that regard alone, but I do know that it does have joystick support and that while it's not a combat game exactly there are a bunch of mods [http://www.orbithangar.com/] for it some of which I wouldn't be surprised are combat-based.

I'm looking for space combat games, not just flight simulators.

I think I found one, but I heard it wasn't all that great. Anyone heard anything about The Tomorrow War?

There really isn't a lot of spaceyness out there for us.

Its worse when you are really into 4x spaceyness.

I had a good roll in the hay with X3: Terran Conflict, but be ready to mod the BAJEEZUS out of that title to get the game you want to play. Luckily, the game you want to play can be created by modding, and an active community does quite a bit of work.

X2: The Threat [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X2:_The_Threat] and X3: Reunion [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X3:_Reunion] + X3: Terran Conflict [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X%C2%B3:_Terran_Conflict] are games that all support (and play better with) Joysticks.

They're all damned good games too, if you can get into them.

mm.. i like that kind of game too, but too many are just.. not right.. THe only one i played a bit was Freelancer, but it was "meh" as far as balance and fun go, even if the combat system in itself was solid.

Robotech: Battlecry has some good space dogfights. It has a ton of ground missions though. It's for GCN, PS2... not sure about ecksbawks.
