Spawn vs Dante

My friend and I have gotten into a recent argument over who would win in a fight to the death between Spawn (from the Todd Mcfarlane comics) or Dante (from the Devil May Cry game series). I know this battle won't happen but I'm curious about what you all think.

The scary part is that sounds like something that would un-ironically be considered as a crossover IP with potential by major comic publishers, image included.

I initially took you to mean Dante as envisioned in Visceral Games "Dante's Inferno", which kinda fits with the whole hell champion vs brutal forces of old testament light motif, but I don't really know anime/manga Dante as a character... Without dashing off to Wikipedia to fill in the gaps, off the top of my head, isn't he a gun slinging demon fighter cut from the same wood as Alucard in Hellsing (in spirit)?

I've got no horse in this race, myself... Also, I personally don't have any beef with "VS Threads", but the community and moderators frown on them here.

I'm going to have to go with Spawn, while Dante is total badass, Spawn did manage to survive a hell of a lot more, hold on to something chaps, its a spoiler!

While Dante took on Lucifer, Spawn took on the twelve Apostle's in Heaven which should have sealed his fate because he's a creation of Hell but it only made him stronger

Dante can be beaten in a video game and uses guns and swords.
Spawn is nearly omnipotent.
