So my wireless keyboard died today and I don't have any extra batteries. I'm therefore writing this entire post using speech recognition. It's actually pretty interesting technology and I think that in the future it could be implemented into our games. Writing this paragraph hasn't been difficult although it does have some problems with certain words, however, as you can see it is fairly advanced nonetheless.

Am curious if you have ad experience with speech recognition, and how you think you might work in a game. Could you imagine a game like mass affect but where everyone responds to your voice?

Wasn't there a shooter on the PS2 that had this? Socom? A friend of mine had it.

Of coarse. I spoke this entire paragraph out laud, finding the software to bemused adequate.

No, I'm just poorly[/p] joking. I don't much care for it, finding it to be more novel than practical. But that may only be because I don't have large amounts of things that require dictation.

Frankly as far as games are concerned, I find I'd rather be waving my arms like an idiot rather than yelling at my television.

What if the game could interact like these talk bots?

Edit: B T W I'm still using speech recognition which comes with windows seven. I'll get some batteries tomorrow

I believe HAWX and Endwar (Tom Clancy series) used voice recognition but I never found it to be any more efficient than normal controls. In fact, I found the normal controls to be superior to voice recognition, but that's just personal preference. Call me blind, but I don't see it working that well in games.
