Spider-Man: Edge of Time Trailer Teases Time-Travelling Spiders

[video=3004]

Peter Parker's life in the past is in the hands of Spider-Man 2099.

First, Activision and Beenox Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108890-New-Spider-Man-Game-Turns-Webslinger-Into-Time-Master]. Now, we have the teaser trailer that gives a taste of the time-hopping antics the web-slingers may take part in.

Thankfully, the trailer outs some of the possible gameplay elements. Those of you hoping for another open-world game featuring Spidey might come away from the trailer disappointed as gameplay looks akin to the linear levels of Shattered Dimensions. Also, there are shots in the trailer that hint that you'll be switching between 2099 and Amazing mid-gameplay.

I may not be a knower of all things Spider-Man, but I still have a wide enough grasp of the Spider-Man mythos to know that the premise of Edge of Time makes little sense, as Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 both exist in entirely separate dimensions. So we may have a Spider-Man story that is less about time travel and more about inter-dimensional time wizards on our hands. Only time will tell.

Not holding my breath.

I want to, but I'm not over the disappointment from Shattered Dimensions

Well, I havent touched Spiderman games since Spiderman 2 (and one of the gamecube spidermans, which was pretty good), but this looks good. I may have to reintroduce myself to Peter.

Edge of Time is looking like a fitting follow-up to Shattered Dimensions. That is not a compliment in any way.

I tell you what this whole time travel lark is ridiculous... Although I suppose it works because Spiderman 2099 is actually a different person from Peter Parker. I'm pretty sure he's called Miguel O'Hara or something like that.

But the game looks like it could be kinda fun. It should be interesting to see how Beenox progress with the series.

Is Neil Patrick Harris doing the voice again? Feels like a follow up to Shattered Dimensions though the voice seemed different.

As for the game, the concept of your game-play influencing the time streams sounds interesting, but I'm not optimistic.

Unless I'm mistaken (or proven wrong), but that gameplay footage looks identical to Shattered Dimensions. Don't fix what isn't broke, I guess.

Oh, good. Only two spider-men means they can put more effort into a single set of gameplay mechanics. I love what Beenox is doing with hiring Marvel writers, hopefully that'll pay off some day soon.

The Amazing Spider-Man didn't use webs as much, I don't think. And there has to be a falling section in every action game, it's just a law these days. That one section will, without trying, fuck me over.

This can't be good. With a developement time of one year it looks like all they're doing is making new levels for the first game and charging us full price

Amazing Spidey had quite a lot of web-based attacks, which is suppose to be what made him different from the other three. They were listed along with every other combo I barely used in that game.

I meant in the trailer he didn't use the webs a lot. I may have just tuned out for a second but I only saw the webs once.
