When it came to comic book movies, there was no better series than the Spiderman movies.
The X-Men series (at least the first two) beg to disagree with you.
I said Spiderman was best cuz I think it came out before the first Xmen movie. The Xmen movies (first two) were awesome and I do love them. Spidey just has a bigger place in my heart than Xmen does...
IIRC, X-Men came out as a movie first (unless you count the old crappy Spider-Man TV movies), then after it succeeded at the box office, studios started buying up Marvel properties, and Sony Pictures got Spider-Man.
Ok you made your point

A couple points: Raimi didn't want venom in this movie; the studio forced him into it because it was the more marketable villain. Raimi wanted a symbiote spidey/sandman movie and if he had got what he wanted it's not hard to imagine a much better, less muddled movie. SONY RUINED SPIDEY3! not Raimi.

Point 2: The much hated Emo Jazz scene is the target of a lot of internet snark and fandom ridicule but not deservedly so. It's a scene that is incredibly similar to the "Raindrops are falling on my head" scene from Spidey 2 but that scene never is the target of snark.(the greatest comic book movie ever IMO) These scenes accomplish 3 things; firstly they show the audience where Parker is in his characer arc.(a state of happy delusion before his game-changing relization) Secondly they help ground the movie in it's tone.(the spidey movies are not starkly realistic like TDK, instead they're going for a hyper stylized campy escapism; these scenes remind the audience of that, which can be lost in all the more serious parts of the story, which are still campy, just more serious) Thirdly, they provide comic entertainment. THE SCENE WAS NOT OF PLACE IN THE MOVIE! which is the biggest complaint levied against it by fandom.

I disagree. It went completely against the grain of the movie, was poorly executed and painful to watch. An absolute atrocity of a scene that wasn't in any way funny, even ironically. I had my head in my hands throughout that entire section of the film, and judging by the audience's reactions after the film, I wasn't the only one.

Emo Peter Parker was painful to watch. The whole jazz bar scene was just... Ugh. Words cannot describe how much I hate that scene. And like the majority in here, the director made the same mistake as Michael Bay did with Transformers. Not enough screen time for Venom, like the Autobots and Decepticons took a back seat to the humans in the Transformers film.

Still waiting on Carnage, Mysterio or Lizard for Spidey 4.

I'm still waiting for my Maximium Carnage movie...

Spidey vs Venom vs Carnage...

Carnage would be an awesome addition. How do you mess up a schizophrenic, psychopathic, sociopathic murderer?! Oh wait...*sees Raimi's Venom again* *shudders*

I really hated this movie. There were just too many storylines going on to actually complete any of them, which made it so that I didn't really care about any of the characters.

I was never hyped up for it, watched all three on a boring night about a year after it came out. It didn't come off as that bad to me. I agree that Venom got way too little time though, they could have cut one of the storylines.

Great read, maybe a little long, but I was entertained throughout...

Wish I could say the same about the movie, I completely agree with everything you said. It's a travesty.

@MrBrightside919
I don't think there can ever be a movie with Carnage in it... at least not one that could do it right. It'd be rated R and obscenely violent, haha. Venom will sit in a tree and wait for you to come to him... Carnage will chase you down the street, cursing, swearing, and killing/maiming anything in his way...

...On reflection, I can't wait either.

i hear spiderman(peter parker) lost 30lbs in 3 months by going completely veggie
If you mean Tobey MacGuire, he was a vegetarian during the filming of SM2. I only know that because in the scene where he is eating the hot dog, I heard some trivia that it was actually a tofu dog, since he was vegetarian and wouldn't eat a real hot dog.

as an action hero movie, S3 was pretty good, but compared to the first and (especially) the second, it was woeful. They decided it would be a good idea to introduce 3 villains in one movie, thereby giving none of them enough character development time (if any in venom's case). venom as well they just held up their sleeve for too long. add to this they spent far too much time on peter and MJ's relationship. i really dont care is much as they think i would.

The first two were pretty good and when I was little SM1 was the shit. SM3 is a very dissapointing movie... and well generaly shit, and to think of how much potential it had.

If you really want to measure how bad this movie is just contrast its view of 'dark' to either of the new Batman films. Emo just isn't the way to go.
