Anyone else thinking that Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions might actually be a good game? I know it's risky to have any good expectations for a Spider-Man game, but the design of this one just looks cool. The Noir universe is especially attractive looking, and the gameplay variation should keep it fresh throughout.

Or maybe it'll be a 5 hour game full of glitches, lame dialogue, and way too easy bosses. I just need to say that to be safe. I'll give it a rental though, probably.

Thoughts? Who is with me in my cautious optimism?

The concept looks good. The final boss will probably have all four Spider'men' gang together I imagine.

It looks promising, at least. I think I'll wait for the reviews, though, it looks to me like it could go either way.

I cant be hopeful for Spiderman games anymore. As much as I hate to parrot Yahtzee, the Spidey games really did peak with the second movie tie-in game. The swinging in that game was fun enough to make up for any problems with the story or combat.

That said, each time a new Spidey game gets set to release there's part of me that genuinely thinks it's going to be awesome. And then the crushing reality sets in.

So to sum up... I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any interest in Shattered Dimensions. But I'd also be lying if I said I thought it was going to be awesome. Cynical mode keeps kicking in and forcing me to expect more dreck from the Activision machine.

But it will be setting high in my Gamefly Queue until I eventually get to play it and see for myself. Here's hoping it will surprise me.

Hmm... I think it's highly possible that ONE particular dimension will be boring, atleast when compared to the other parts. Also, Im wondering if they think they can get a way with shallower design and less depth since theyre basically splitting the game into four parts..

If we compare it to Arkham Asylum, as so many are hoping for Shattered to have the same impact on spidey video games as the former did to Batman. However, the best thing about Arkham Asylum was that IT MADE YOU FEEL LIKE BATMAN. It was very recognizable, but still felt fresh. Shattered might be fresh, but recognizable? Maybe to someone who is a big fan otherwise and reads the comics.

But it wont have the strength of Arkham Asylum, or even Spiderman 2, to make you feel like your friendly neighbourhood. I think.

But I might be wrong.

All I'm hoping for is that it's at least a Web of Shadows (good concept, overall nice controls, but executed wrong). It doesn't look Ultimate Spiderman or Spiderman 2 now (good concept, a few bad moments, but executed almost perfectly). I'm pretty sure it won't be Arkham Asylum though (great concept, most every part of it was great, and executed so well you felt like the protagonist).

However, I remembering being unsure on AA at first, if only because while the concept was good, and the designs were great, the screenshots didn't fill me with confidence. Shattered Dimensions is similar right now so there's potential.

I do have a feeling the Noir sections of the game might borrow a good bit from Arkham Asylum. But the design looks so good (at least to me).

Well, I like Web of Shadows a lot, despite never finishing it due to disc issues...

So, I'll give it a shot.

It looks REALLY good.

I think it looks cool, the different universes look really intriguing.
Looks like a really interesting concept, hope they pull it off
Then again it is Activision ...

I haven't seen much but he developer Beenox doesn't inspire much confidence. Just Movie-licensed, Guitar Hero spin-off games and many Console-to-PC ports in their back catalogue.

This seems to be their FIRST (mostly) original production, though Spiderman is an established franchise, this Shattered Dimensions aspect gives a lot of breathing room.

i'm really hoping it's going to be good, just because you get to fight carnage and that'll be the most awesome fight you could have in a spiderman game.

So far, it's looking good. At least better than one would expect from a Spider-Man game from Beenox. That's if you trust reviewers.

This is the first Spider-Man game (save handhelds) that I won't be getting at launch since the NES days. I hate half of the characters (Noir and Ultimate, they had to throw in Ultimate so Quesadas buttboy Bendis gets a part of the profits), I dislike stealth games, I don't like some of the redesigns of the villains and the story sounds like crap. However, my favorite Spidey voice actor is in it (the guy from Amazing Friends and also did the voice of Bumblebee in Transformers G1) so that's a plus.

I'll just wait until it goes down a little or get it used, it just doesn't seem worth $60 to me which is sad considering how big of a Spider-Man fan I am.

Well, here's the thing. Normally I'm downright giddy when a new Spider-Man game comes out. I contemplated stealing my brother's Xbox when Spider-Man 2 came out. I spent weeks in red hot anticipation for Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man 3. I tore apart the town looking for a copy of Web of Shadows on its supposed release date. (All the websites said it came out on a certain day, turned out that was the 'shipping date' and that it would be another day before you could buy it. Seriously, why the hell even list that as the release date?)

But Shattered Dimensions? I didn't even know it was about to come out until today. The reason I normally get so excited about Spider-Man games is because of the free-roam. I could play the other games for hours without getting bored (Including Spider-Man 3). I love swinging around the city, putting down thugs, and doing an occasional trick race. I didn't have near as much reason to get excited for Shattered Dimensions because they said from the start that it would have none of these things. This looks more like a sequel to the PS1 Spider-Man games, and I think that's essentially what it really is supposed to be. They brought back Stan Lee and unlockable outfits, after all.

I'm not saying the game looks bad, it doesn't. It just isn't the type of Spidey game I tend to get worked up about. I'll rent this once Gamefly is able to ship me a copy, (Which probably won't be for a couple months) and I may very well end up buying it.

On the other hand, the DS version looks fantastic. I LOVED the DS version of Web of Shadows, I'd even say it's an underlooked gem. Sounds to me like the DS version of Shattered Dimensions is more of that =D
