So, I was talking with a friend of mine in my Drawing class today, an earlier discussion topic had been our strong dislike of spiders, and don't ask me how we got from that to ice cream, but we did. Anyways, just being silly I said "the person who invented ice cream, they should've put him in charge of designing spiders, I bet they'd be awesome then"

But then I got to thinking more about it, because, well, my mind's like that. And I thought "you know, if someone could somehow make genetically altered spiders that were tasty and cute, not only would I stop hating them so much, but I'd be excited every time I saw one. I mean, who doesn't want to have little bits of delicious crawling about their apartment eating the other unwanted bugs and converting them into more deliciousness?

So basically, what I'm talking about here is spiders that are kind of cute instead of creepy (think rounder, pastel colors, no hair, only 2 eyes, stuff like that), and that taste good when you eat them.

TL:DR? Would you eat spiders that had been genetically altered to look and taste good? Have any ideas for good flavors?

My first thought was marshmallow spiders, but it'd be really awesome if there were also chocolate and gram cracker spiders and they were interlocking, for the ultimate smores spider. Though, I also really like the idea of an ice cream filled spider, with a tasty waffle cone exoskeleton.

I ate a spider when I was young. Probably explains my strong fear and hatred towards them now. To answer your question, I don't care how cute it is, it's the legs, oh god, the legs.....

We could change them to only have six or four legs? I mean really, if we're changing just about everything else, then why the hell not?

People eat spiders as it is anyway, not many, but the tarantula is as much a delicacy in some places as snails in France.

Then they wouldn't be spiders? I thought spiders had to have 8 legs?

There are places where they eat spiders. I remember seeing a spider 'farm' in India on tv once. it looked ok to be honest.

But they wouldn't be spiders...
They'd be walking smores, and we wouldn't get a chance to eat them considering all the other hungry little dudes out there.
Unless you kept a fertile tarantula as a pet...
Spider eggs anyone?

Well, they'd still crawl about your domestile, eating bugs, and spinning webs, except now the webs are made of cotton candy. We're changing them aesthetically and physiologically, but they still have the minds and souls of spiders.

All three of you need to stop taking this so literally. I'm not asking who eats spiders already, or whether changing the form of a spider would make it cease to be a spider, I'm just asking if you'd eat a tasty spider? And what flavor you'd like so that when I become a billionaire and fund a research team they can make that flavor of spider for you.

YOU wanna make a flavoured spider for ME?
I'm flattered!
Could you perhaps make a pizza flavoured one?
And then even make a pizza flavoured spider pizza? I would eat that, a lot.
Then make my own with the ones in my house, i think theres a few in the garden...

Wouldn't this pretty much be what the concept was for Gummy Worms/Bears/everything else? I'd go for it, I love weird candies.

I want to make flavored spiders for everyone! We're here to change the world people! I want for us to be able to live, not in fear of spiders, but in hopes that a fat juicy one will show up. What better thing could I possibly do for the world?

And hell yes I'd make a pizza one! What if it was like those awesome addictive little pizza rolls? Those things are so awesome, that'd be a great spider!

Well, it would be the same, except that these are still living spiders that run about your house/apartment/the van you live in eating bugs and spinning webs (which, as I mentioned in an earlier post, are no made of cotton candy... or something else delicious). So, I don't know if they'd qualify as candies exactly. Since... well, they'd still be alive. But gummy spiders are a good idea!
