If they could throw 5n1p3r in there somewhere, too, they could really capitalise on the CoD crowd.CriticalMiss said:So are we to take it that the new name is an exercise in initialisms that don't mean anything but just have a 'cool' letter in them to look all, like, cool and stuff bro? What was wrong with calling an award ceremony celebrating games of a videographicalised nature the 'Video Game Awards'? If they want it to look cool and egdy then I would recommend a rerebranding to the ~Xx.]{5p1k3\/G/\5}[.xX~'[email protected] and make full use of the full 1990s vibe.
I have a really bad feeling that all the "expanded digital footprint" statement means is that there's gonna be obstructive, annoying hashtags flashing up on screen. That seems to be a really unfortunate trend with all awards shows nowadaysIt's unclear what Keighley is referring to when he mentions the show's "expanded digital footprint." He may be referring to the fact that the show will stream on a whole bunch of platforms and websites: According to the Spike website [http://www.spike.com/vgx/about], the show will be viewable online through Xbox Live, PSN, Twitch, VGXLIVE.com, Hulu, Yahoo Screen, Spike.com, ComedyCentral.com MTV.com, MTV2.com, BET.com and GameTrailers.com. Then again, he could be talking about anything.
Exactly the first thought that popped in my head.nomaner said:The only reaction I have to this name change. (still don't know how to post vids or pic on this forum)

Video Game Xwards. The letter A is for niche audiences anyways, totally not radical enough for todays hip and funky mainstream audience you feelin me broski?Grabehn said:So... does the X in VGX stand for anything at all? Or is it one of those dumbass changes stupid people do in order to make stuff sound "edgy" and "hip"?
they used to be completely awful. i believe the first one awarded Madden game of the year over Splinter Cell, GTA: Vice City, Wind Waker, etc. and for the next few years they had some profoundly stupid and gimmicky awards, but in the last few years they have been a lot better.Bix96 said:I don't really understand all the hate for the VGAs. I only watch them when I have nothing better to do but they never seem as bad as people make them out to be and if I'm not mistaken both Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim were revealed at the VGAs so they are at least good for that.synobal said:Oh man, these spike Tv awards they are so bad an exercise in ugg. It's just a bunch of corporations awarding each other stuff in a PR orgy of epic proportions.
If by "brightly colored" you mean brown and grey with the occasional red splash..putowtin said:great use of the true "Spike" on the front page. Don't watch the award show myself (being in good old Blighty) but if it's anythng like the gaming baftas (paid for by the corporations to congratulate the corporation) it's probably a load of shite, brightly coloured shite!
