now im not here to start a console war, nor argue the merits of exclusivity.. and i suppose, since we got conviction, I shouldnt moan, but still.. thought this was a little odd considering all the splinter cells were xbox exclusive.. its almost like having a halo HD package ps3 exclusive..

checked online and the old splinter cells arent compatible with the 360, which is a damn shame because i really want a classic splinter cell

its a laptop :/ quite new though so should be able to run the old ones easily enough..

yeah i was toying with the idea of downloading them, but then news of the package dropped in my lap, which seemed perfect.. Im much rather play a 3rd person action adventure on a console.. although, if i can get used to gears of war on a pc i can get used to anything :p

But I played Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory on the PS2.

I also played the hell out of the first game on the 360.

I play Chaos Theory on a laptop, with Windows 7, too. Annoyingly, I bought the game a couple of week before I heard of the collections.

Actually the Splinter Cell series wasn't all Xbox exclusive; PS2 eventually got its own versions of each of the three games. However, I thought they've been viewed as generally inferior, with missing or simplified features over their Xbox and PC counterparts. So yes, it does strike me as odd that the HD remakes are PS3 exclusive. Being an Xbox owner, I don't mind much though. I still have all the original Xbox versions of each game, and I believe Chaos Theory still holds up today as being a very good-looking game.

Oh and also I don't know which list you were looking at OP, but the first three SC's are definitely backwards compatible.

Yes, because PS3 is sorely missing in the exclusive market...

This is why I have a hard time supporting the PS3. It's like Sony is telling me "Aw, too poor to support both systems? Well then, you shall go wanting!" I would have loved to get Splinter Cell again with an HD touch-up, but thanks to Sony's BS, that won't happen because I can't afford to buy a PS3 and get games for both that and the 360 as well.

I gotta say, after reading what I wrote, I'm having a hard time telling how Sony plans to make money and sell consoles by angering and alienating people like me.

Well you can always plug a wired 360 controller in to your PC. Is what I use for those types of games. Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed, etc.
I'd like to point out that the game doesn't realise a 360 controller has triggers. Programs like xpadder will fix that, though.

Well, Conviction was happily not made for the PS3, and since the PS3 is the console without backwards compatibility (for the most part), well, fair trade?

They're making splinter cell HD remakes too? Damn, I'm gonna be broke by the end of the year.
The older splinter cell's were on the ps2 as well.

Not sure how reliable this is but I heard at gamestop that these remakes are for both ps3 and the 360, but there's bonus content if you get the ps3 versions.

I just wanna be sure I'm reading you right, cause it sounds like somewhere online said that the Splinter Cell games couldn't be played on the 360. If that's what you're saying, don't believe it. You can go out to a game store, pick up the old Xbox games for ten bucks, and play them on your 360. That's what I did.
