basically, completely out of the blue, my lower left abdomen started hurting badly. doing some research, i found it's my spleen acting up.

i'm scared, escapist. is it gonna go pop? am i ill with some terrible disease?

This. If it's urgent, don't even wait for a normal doctor, go to the emergency room. If something hurts, that's bad, and you should get it checked out asap.

As others have said, yeah. Go to a doctor. Sooner rather than later. Because chances are you might be totally wrong about what it is, because unlike what those anatomical diagrams would like you to believe your innards are not split up into neatly organized regions of your body. They're all twisted around each other, and some are piled on top of others. And those chances are diagrams are even less accurate if something in your innards is going wrong.

Looking for medical advice on the Internet is handy for things like how to get rid of a hangnail or how to get rid of kanker sores, but anything involving your innards is something you should always take up with a doctor.
