I've been hearing some praise that SC:C will revolutionize the stealth genre, the way I see it by doing to it what Resident Evil 4 did to survival horror, turning it into another generic third person shooter.

Recently I just downloaded the demo and played it on the hardest setting which I beat in 15 minutes, the game does everything for you. You don't have to aim anymore you can just mark two people and kill them with one button. The AI is just as retarded as before where the enemy will never check the most obvious place anyone would hide, and finally the game has a melee instant kill that works even after you've been spotted, an instant "fuck you" button that shakes the shit out of the controls to show how "extreme" the game is...0o

Oh and, if you fuck up the stealth, you can just play it as another third person shooter, which you might choose to start with since it's easier and much faster.../facepalm

Now maybe I'm giving SC:C too much crap since MGS 4 was the first stealth em' up game I noticed that was doing this awful thing, but since the game is short as hell and only totting these features and MP it'll be the one people will remember.

Now the game isn't out yet, but I think I already have an idea what to expect, hopefully I'm wrong and the game will be forgotten in a month.

But if it's revered, expect to see more generic cover based shooters pretending to be something else....>>

They stripped most of what made Splintercell unique to make it "innovative". (Because changing everything = innovation, right?)

I was saddened when I took a shotgun shot at point blank of realistic. I'll still play it but they ripped it's heart out.

It's impossible to ghost levels like before, even just not killing anyone is nearly impossible. :/

The whole idea with this new game is that Sam is pissed. He's done being stealthy and quiet, now he's the invisible predator, similar to Batman in Arkham Asylum. He's going to take you all out one way or another, so you'd better watch out.

Frankly, I think it looks sweet. The new gameplay style reflects Sam's new outlook and personality, and I can't wait to see how far he will go to find Sarah's killer.

what got me was the inability to control sam. I mean, they wont even let you jump without a prompt and from what i saw there was no way to not kill everyone. Could you even just knock someone out without killing them?

Oh and ign.com gave the game a 9.3 touting all about how it'll revolutionize the genre.

That's another -10,000 points to them in my book...0o

That's probably my biggest problem with it. In Chaos Theory Sam's movement was so intuitive that I felt I was free to navigate anywhere with minimal effort. Conviction seems to hamper your ease of movement a bit.

Still, the gameplay does seem to fit Sam's take no prisoners attitude.

I don't really care about the SC franchise. I don't hate it, it's just not my cup of nitrous-oxide.

But then again I never cared about the RE franchise either, and RE4 surprised the shit out'a me...

So...

RE4 was a great game onto itself, but it changed survival horror for the worse, and up till then its TPS ideas were ground breaking.

SC:C isn't adding anything new to the stealth genre expect trying to turn it into an action game, nor is it going to redefine TPS, if I want to play a cover based TPS I'll play Gears of War or Uncharted, not this...=/

A lot of hate here. I enjoyed the demo. I thought it was a good change. I feel they had to change the gameplay or else it would feel to milked. And whats this about it being to easy? It's a DEMO! It's supposed to be easy. They even said they changed the gameplay after the demo was released to be tougher. Not drastically of coarse.
