Breaking News:

Ubisoft now says every game they ever made was perfect, and they ride to and from work each day on flying fucking unicorns.
that's IW, brah.
Ubisoft just thinks their DRM is perfect.

Ahh well as Ubisoft doesnt make PC games... doesnt bother me.
(in my eyes, as Ubisoft has basically declared PC gamer customers to be untrustworthy and requiring 24/7 monitoring, I dont consider Ubisoft to have a PC development status)

... but if this was any other multi platform publisher, I would of scornfully remarked that its to seperate the console release and PC release, and hope to garner more money by catching the impatiant ones to buy on the console first... and then offer the same players a PC version (which would be labled as a tweaked or superior version)... basiclly sell the same game twice.

Who the hell pulls hyped high profile games 2 weeks before shipping because of bugs... thats what day1 patches sort out.

Uhhh... yeah... the game should have gone gold by now. If anything they'd release a patch for that. So okay, I basically don't believe that at all.
Yes, I agree. Most Ubisoft games browse for any available updates on the web whenever you try to start up a game, so why would they need to hold it back, unless it was an untra-serious bug?

I'm looking forward to this game, but I'm concerned about how much the DRM is going to effect my time enjoying the game play. I think we have reached the point where anti-piracy is now effecting game play, which in turn is going to harm both the gaming community as a whole, and the game publishers who are blind to the harm they are causing themselves, and will still blame piracy for their loss of profit.

How would you "polish and debug" a game which has already been mastered, disks burned, packaged, and are likely already in boxes waiting shipment to retailers?

The code was final weeks ago. And now two weeks before release they need to... fix some stuff?

Yeah. At least they realize that bugs and lack of polish are still better than their DRM scheme.
Thats actually a really good point. The game will have been getting burned and boxed for weeks

What are they going to do with all those copies?
Probably give as a freebie when their polished up and debugged DRM crashes again.

Haha, oh Ubisoft, you and your April Fools' jokes...

This is almost half as good as Blizzard's multiple jokes combined, and that's REALLY saying something!

Splinter cell is made by Ubisoft? Oh Bollockbitchbumballs! Looks like I'm back to TF2 again, damn it. (I will not buy games from Ubisoft until they remove all DRM from all of their games, I said so in that petition and I will not go back on my word)

Too bad I won't buy it. And I used to love Splinter Cell too... I can't believe I miss Chaos Theory's Starforce DRM...
I don't. That fucking thing destroyed one of my CD drives!

It especially pisses me off because I can't/won't reinstall it for another play through, because I don't want to risk another drive. Its essentially made my copy of the game worthless.

Buy it used, Ubisoft still wont see a dime from the sale.

Will that work with the DRM?

a PC turned console gamer? I've never heard of that. It's usually the opposite.

Do tell!

OT: Yeah, but they'll be unable to play it for a different reason than bugs with the game.

*wink*

<------------------------- Exclusively PC Gamer

I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway (I won't pay more than £10 for games, I haven't bought a new game since L4D2, no current new games interest me enough) so I'm not that bothered. The whole Ubisoft thing just sealed the deal.

Its obviously simple.

They made the game with some "quirky" but not game breaking bugs, so they are making a Zero Day patch in a further bid to try and reduce piracy.
