I used the search bar like a good boy :)

I wanna know weather or not Splinter Cell is a decent stealth game.

The only other stealth game I own right now is MGS2 and I was wondering if Splinter cell compares in terms of stealth gameplay.

I heard that in only one of the games you get a knife, which one is it?

You get the knife in Chaos Theory, but its not an equipable weapon. The game requires stealth to proceed, you simply cannot go guns blazing like in MGS.While I like MGS much more as a series, Splinter Cell is the way to go if you want real Stleath action.
I play MGS the old fashioned "no one must know you where there" mentality, so I sneak past everything like a good boy, I am a good stealth operative :D

But yhea sometime the game doesn't push you to use stealth all the time, especially after you get the tranquilizer gun. So I am looking for a more stealth oriented game.

How is the knife not equipable? You can't do knife kills/melee with it?

I played Splinter Cell Double Agent and loved the stealth aspect. In fact, some levels threw you in with no guns or gadgets, just a knife and your goggles and it relied completely on stealth which I thought was great. However, having never played any other Splinter Cell games, I can't be an expert, but if Double Agent is anything to go by, whatever game you got is probably a very good stealth game.

You get it when you do a Lethal Quick kill, Non Lethal is just choking him till he passes out. Or when interrogating someone. You only have your Pistol and your Assualt Rifle(which also is a Nade Launcher, Shotgun, Sniper, you name it)You get plenty of other gadgets aswell. I only own Chaos Theory, many say its the best fo the franchise, I say get it, cheap, awesomely stealthy, and some kick arse missions. Keep in mind though, the game is very hard, but since you play like a motherfucking ninja already, you shouldnt have too much trouble.
K thanks I'll be sure to pick up Chaos theory sometime soon then.

TO AMAZON DOT COM!!!!!!

lol

Oh, isn't that the third game? Am I missing out on a decent story if I skip ahead or no?

Main thing is still the gameplay though, story is secondary right now.

All the SC games save Double Agent were good stealth games, though they were very different from MGS. I would say that the best of the crop is Chaos Theory. It just feels like they perfected the formula in that one. Then came Double Agent and ruined it all. Over the years I've bought DA on PC, PS3 and PS2 to see if I could find a version that was good. They all sucked. Perhaps it's better on the 360? Though I doubt it.

You really should try Chaos Theory. I even hear they removed bloody StarForce by now. I still have to crack my game so I can play it. Stupid DRM.

I played the first splinter cell and am beating splinter cell: pandora tommorow now. Both great games, although you should play the first one before you play the second one.

In regards to stealth, Splinter cell tops MGS, I liked the MGS games but they have always been "Hide under this" and "Stand in the shadows and don't move", it's all very linear and "one way to do things" kind of game.

Splinter Cell is more self crafted when it comes to level completion.

I don't know why people don't like Double Agent, it was, in my opinion, a perfectly good game, and I like where the plots heading with Conviction.

But to answer your question, Splinter Cell is a good stealth series.

Chaos Theory had me on the edge of my chair soooo many times, I loved it. However, it's also pretty linear, and I think that a stealth game is the best when you have a lot of options on how to complete your mission.

What's up with you and saying your a good boy, dude?

OT: Yeah, Splinter Cell is awesome. Conviction is shaping up nicely.
I have been watching "fun with Akasuki" to much lately.

LoL "Tobi is a good boy!" LoL

Is conviction the new SC game coming out?

Oh I just got done reading some reviews that say the PS2 version wasn't as good as the xbox and pc versions.

Which is sad cause I only have a PS2 at home.

Splinter Cell is definitely more stealthy than Metal Gear Solid, although I admit that I enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid games a lot more, possibly because stealth was always encouraged but not totally forced.

Also, if you haven't tried it, give Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater a try, there's more stealth elements in that than in the second game, and you also get a knife.

However, overall, Spliter Cell is the better stealth game.

I was thinking about getting snake eater as well.

Did any of the thief games come out for the playstation? Yahzee says they are good games.

I'd recommend getting it, I really would.

Also, not that I know of. I've got (and enjoy) Thief II, but that's on PC. I've seen the third game for the old Xbox, I think, unless it was in a flashy PC case, but, as far as I know, the Thief games did not and have not come out for the PlayStation.

You can get an Xbox for cheap now... Chop chop.

But seriously, have a look at this if you want proof of how awesome Conviction will be:
That does look cool, but I like to go in and out without anyone knowing I was there. But I'm sure we will be given allot of choice because of the sandbox map.

I love sandboxes.

The story in the games is decent, and Chaos Theory's story borrows heavily from the first game. You might not understand what's going on (and certainly not who the guy Masse who they keep referencing is), but it shouldn't keep you from enjoying it. Thing is, if you go into the game knowing who Masse (SC1) and Shetland (Pandora Tomorrow) are, it's way more enjoyable.

Yeah, apparently you can choose loads of different methods to that mansion section. That started stealthy but went guns blazing, but you can go all silent predator if you wish.
Cool. I just got done looking at a gamplay video, this game looks cool.

You can hang from the ceiling and get people, like batman.XD
