Well if we know one thing about Star Trek, it's that it's just SWIMMING in female fans.
Considering that female Star Trek fans are often credited with popularizing the idea of 'slash' fiction, you'd be surprised.
And more than slightly squicked out. Western Yaoi almost started there.
It pretty much DID start there, with Spock/Kirk.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. To each their own.

This is pretty interesting, it's definitely not a way I would have looked at it. Strange how the mind of man works.

Hey, I've read Spock/Kirk mashups that are far better written than anything Star Trek itself delivered in the area of romance.
That might not be saying much, but still. Anything is more credible than Seven of Nine/Chakotay.
I mean come on.

Haha... the only time I seen a woman show interest in Spock was the episode with the vomit rock thingy that said she liked Spock's ears.

Even Data got some action early on, and he is a freaking ROBOT.

Not everyone can work those ears and eyebrows, but both Leonard Nimoy and Zach Quinto do it oh so well. And Zach didn't even really have to get tutored.

I believe there was even at least one episode where they compared spock's appearance to that of the devil.

What I don't get is, why do they never mention the fact that they've met ALIENS and discovered hundreds of other planets, none of which share the same religion they do? One would think you would re-think your spiritual life after finding out there's life on other planets that's just as, if not more, intelligent than you (and that's without even getting into the Qs).

obvious zach quinto is a beast is obvious

spock overall is a awesome character, plus sylar playing as him is a win win scenario

so im sure female fans def. are big in numbers over spock.

then again..there is the matter of the "bowl" cut...

The funniest thing is that most of Spock's personal storylines were about him dealing with his emotions. I remember a particularly funny scene where he thought Kirk was dead and Jim sauntered out from the medbay. Spock shouted "Jim!" and threw his arms around him, only to realise what he'd done and stepped back into the Vulcan persona again.

There were more like that, but what I'm getting at is that even in the reboot, Spock's inner conflict with his human emotions and vulcan sensibilities is probably what attracts a woman.

...

Well, not me. I'm more into McCoy, meself.

It's funny, I was having a conversation (well, more of a debate) about this with a friend of mine the other day. I'll be happy to let her know that I was right.

I second this! Spock never did much for me, and Kirk is just ewwww.... McCoy seems like the type who could make a girl happy.

Just goes to show - no matter how hard writers/developers/creators try to make something appealing, a bunch of us will come along and like some other unexpected bit anyway.

Having met Karl Urban earlier this year and being a long-time fan of DeForest Kelley's McCoy, he certainly could/does make ME happy! Who couldn't love a grumpy southern doctor (rhetorical question there, guys)?

I did like Spock, I just... well... didn't find him THAT attractive. Give me McCoy and his hilarious one-liners any day.
