So I'm part of a podcast revolving around a tv series, Show A, where I go hunting for news tidbits to link to, someone else goes through and writes up a script, and I read it.
My writer was very upset with me here recently because one of the links I'd offered up lead to the discovery of casting information for an episode of another show, Show B, that she was very invested in and did not want any sort of spoiler for. Since Show B had nothing to do with Show A and wasn't my focus at the time, I hadn't considered it an important subject to look over, and didn't think to mention that the casting info was there.
She compared the spoiling to mentioning Darth Vader's connection to Luke in Empire Strikes Back, and offered the opinion that giving away the presence of the cast member from Show A appearing at all in Show B was a spoiler and shouldn't be part of the reported news at all, in case some of our listeners are fans of Show B and don't want to know. I personally think this is a BIT of a stretch.
So what do you think? Do you think casting information for future episodes of a show you watch is spoiler-y enough to warrant a spoiler warning beforehand, or omission?
