SPOILER: The Stig has been outed.

Anyone who is a viewer of Top Gear will be shamed to hear that the mysterious man behind the white suit has been outed.

According to the BBC website, the High Court in London today refused to grant an injunction blocking the publication of a HarperCollins autobiography by ex Formula Three driver Ben Collins.

The book reportedly claims that Mr Collins is the mystery driver who appears on BBC Two show 'Top Gear'.

The court case was held in private after the BBC took legal action against HarperCollins last week.

Speaking to the BBC, 'Top Gear' presenter James May joked after today's verdict: "Obviously I'm now going to have to take some legal action of my own, because I have been the Stig for the past seven years, and I don't know who this bloke is, who's mincing around in the High Court pretending it's him."

There was much media speculation that Mr Collins was The Stig last week after a newspaper published financial records for his company, linking him to the BBC show.

So, now we will most likely be seeing a new stig as they killed off the first Stig when people knew who he was.

Personally I see this as a sad day as the White Stig has been with them for so long.

The Stig is like Sever from Drome Racers (entire bakery for the reference): he's meant to be a faceless, nameless monster who can easily mop the floor with everything presented to him, and no matter what anyone says, he'll always be just that. It's not really a proper revelation, anyone who cared enough to bother finding out knew that Ben Collins was The Stig for a while now, ever since he had to declare his identity in the official (and public) HSE accident report about Richard Hammond's crash.

I think I may have even "outed" The Stig right here on The Escapist when there was a thread about Michael Schumacher being The Stig.

Surely he would because now he's going to drop off of the face of the earth. The first Stig, Perry McCarthy, has pretty much never been heard of since, so you would think that it would of been better if he kept his job as The Stig.
