So yesterday I placed third at SM (Swedish Mastership) in Judo. That speaking against the nerd labal gamers have it made me start the think.

So I ask you Escapist, have you won or done real great in any sport events? Local? National or even international?

Share your epic victories here friends!

Sports? What are these sports you speak of?
It's likely just some fad, it won't catch on.

Also on topic, does Griffball count? I am a nerd after all and i have had a couple great matches on that game :)

Otherwise, i play a good game of cricket though haven't actually played for several years.

- My Little League baseball team (Whoo! Trophy Boys!) won the regional championships.
- I got a big-ass trophy for placing third in Southern Ontario in junior team bowling.
- I won several minor awards for being on the best team in non-varsity sports including winning the Massey "Chumpionship" in basketball.

And all this considering I don't have a speck of athletic ability to speak of. Notice the word "team" in each example.

At my primary school I was the undefeated champion of Knuckles and Peanuts... Does that count?

I won an award for "Most Improved Swimmer" for my swim team. I guess going from a 45 second fifty to a sub-30 one is pretty good.

I won an eating contest with the brother of a girl I used to have a crush on. We were both skinny dudes and still are, neither of us very big eaters. I was just trying to prove to him that eating pizza with a fork and kinfe is as fast as eating it with your hands.

I'm sure there are people who will tell you that competitive eating is a sport.

Btw, that dude fits the Escapist stereotype, he's probably on here right now.

I won a couple interschool basketball, volleyball and athletics competitions a long time ago. Back in the days when I still had some muscles and motivation to speak of... Like I said, a long time ago.

Nothing. I did find a certificate saying I came second in a sack race in year 2. Does that count?

Let's see...

A few local martial arts sparring tournaments over the years, more often placing somewhere in the top 10 though. One regional tournament where I was second.

A few scout skill competitions, the latest first place was a local championship in 2005 with my team, on the 'gray' series (three members in a team, all-male or mixed teams only, all members 18 or older with no upper limit for summed ages, competition has at least one and usually only one overnight resting period). A multitude of top threes and top tens in local and regional scale over the years, in all series. One national competition, though back then we scored only among the top 30.

A local 'friendly-competition' (no prizes as such, only fame and glory) cross-country skiing tournament, second place on my age bracket (22-25 year old males), but then again our bracket had only two dozen competitors...

A school badminton tournament when I was 16. Scored on the top 5 the year before and after that.

Oh yeah, and a regional football championship when I was thirteen. I quit football after that, no way I was going to waste almost ten hours a week for practices.
