Congrats on the unlikely jump to first place. I imagine these past two weeks have flipped a lot of people's fantasy teams on their heads. Is this the year of the underdog?

And fucking Jake Moody... WHY COULDN'T HE DO THAT WITH US?!?
The same exact thing happened last week where someone changed their pick to the Jags before the game as that was their only chance.

HAHA

Steelers at the Bengals was a great game last night. Two teams with a storied rivalry going back and for for the full 60 minutes taking it to the wire. The picture below shows the grit and fight both teams brought to the game.

Formula 1: Oscar Piastri qualified 7th, and finished 5th. Still leading the drivers' championship, but his teammate Lando Norris (finished P2) and Max Verstappen (race winner) have closed the gap to the point the the title is up for grabs. Piastri has been merely an F1 fandom stopgap as I await Valtteri Bottas' return with Cadillac in 2026, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't grown genuinely fond of the guy. I really wanted him to run away with it this year, but these past few races have show Norris getting too close for comfort and Verstappen back to his signature dominance that just makes the sport a snooze-fest. I like good, "proper" racing, but I was praying for some carnage out front yesterday, and was denied. I really wanted Max to fuck up somewhere, ANYWHERE, but he cruised to a win because "Verstappen." Anyway, at least these American races don't make me wake up at ungodly hours...

And in the NFL, my Niners are 5-2!! Beat the Falcons soundly by the end last night, 10-20. It wasn't easy given we're like 70% backups at this point, but Kyle Shanahan has proven he can make shit happen with what most might perceive as "nothing." Kittle came back, but I think he got maybe one touch, if that? McCaffrey continues to be our go-to, and it worked last night, but Shanahan needs to spread the wealth before he gets him killed. He's perfectly established as a distraction for more creative play-calling using the weapons we have as they come back from injury.

It's true. This season thus far has turned out to be one of the more parity-ridden we've seen in quite some time. If you'd have told any fan a year ago that today, the Patriots, sans Brady and Belichick, would be leading the AFC East ahead of the Bills, or that the Ravens would be LAST in the AFC North behind the Bengals AND Browns, or that my Niners, basically a traveling infirmary ward, would be leading the NFC West and projected 2nd out of the NFC overall to make the playoffs, or that the fucking COLTS would have the best record in the league and an MVP candidate in ex-Giants QB Daniel Jones... you'd be laughed out of town. But this is where we are, a year where pretty much every game is must-watch television, and I love it. The only thing going as expected is the Jets have yet to win a game, but at this point, I wouldn't be shocked if they won the Super Bowl.

I feel bad for Buffalo Bills fans. I think I learned this via osmosis over the past few years of watching the sport, but since I don't necessarily follow either team, I didn't actively KNOW that despite having a soul-crushing 0 - 4 record against the Chiefs in the postseason, QB Josh Allen, as of yesterday, now has a 5 - 1 record against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular season. This explains Allen's emotional postgame comment last post season where he was almost in tears and effectively said "we just can't beat those guys." I can't imagine feeling you can consistently dominate one team to get there, and be dominated by that same team when you ARE there year after year after year... Then I think back to the '90s; there are some teams who have never been to ONE Super Bowl, and the Bills went to 4 in a row... and lost them all. To have that monkey on your back, then finally get a Hall of Fame QB in Josh Allen and hope again only to run into the brick wall of Patrick Mahomes... yeah, I feel bad for Bills fans.

But my Niners routed the Giants, the Panthers somehow managed to beat the Packers, the Bengals and Bears combined for 89 points with the Bears winning, the Steelers handed the Colts (the team with the best record in the league until yesterday) their second loss bringing them down a peg... I can't remember the last time we made it more than halfway through a season with it still being pretty much anyone's game. This is a good season to be a fan; it feels like there's a reason to watch every game, and every game has implications... Except the Jets and Saints games; those just seem to be games where as long as you suit up, you're favored by 10. Sucks too, because the Saints are my #2 team. Thankfully, my Niners are finding ways to win, because if our record reflected what reports from any triage ward would indicate it should, I'd probably give up rooting "for" anyone, and focus all of my fandom into hating the Cowboys and Seahawks.

Last night's game was tough to watch, the team I hate the most (Cowboys) hosting one of my own divisional rivals (Cardinals.) In my heart of hearts, I wanted them to tie, the closest thing to them both losing, but as the game progressed, I found my self favoring the Cards. Mostly because of Jacoby Brissett, yet another QB who's been bounced around the league like a beachball at a concert for nearly a decade, a promising talent that just seemed to fade away as younger, brighter stars arose. He showed he can still do it; he still has that fire when he has the opportunity. Fuck the Cardinals, but I'm happy for Brissett.

But in the end, I'm happiest that, well... take it away, Stephen A.:

Ohio State manhandled Purdue on Saturday keeping us undefeated, but the sports gods decided that was enough good fortune for my weekend.

Oscar Piastri was handed a BS 10-second penalty for basically racing, and ultimately denied a podium in Brazil. His teammate Lando Norris' lead in the WDC now sits of 9 points ahead of Oscar. Piastri needs to find himself again; he was leading the WDC for weeks; to drop it now, and to his teammate no less, with so few races left is hard to watch. The best thing to come out of F1 this weekend was seeing Max Verstappen ousted in Q1 for the first time in his career on pure pace! Of course he blamed the car, but that doesn't change the fact that he got outraced by 15 nigh objectively inferior cars. But because the sports gods went out of their way to deny me any joy after Saturday, Verstappen still managed to get the podium, even after starting from the pit lane, yet another testament to the greatness that is the Risen Christ Verstappen...

My Niners? Oh, the Rams gave us backshots for four quarters yesterday. I honestly let the pundits get in my head; every time someone said the Rams would run away with it, someone else would counter with how good the Niners can be, and not to discount them. I listened to the latter, and kept hope, even when we had to climb back from 21-0 to 21-14, I held on to hope, but alas, the Rams wouldn't be denied access to our sweet, sweet small intestine. I tried to stop watching, but it became less about hoping we would come back, and more about seeing how bad we'd let it get. 42-26 is how bad it got.

Long story short, instead of my typical watching the myriad sports talk show on Monday, I'm going to see what sitcoms I can catch up on.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the fucking DOLPHINS beat the BILLS!! One team is speculated to fire their head coach, the other is a favorite to make the Super Bowl; I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out why this edit was worth mentioning...

I know it was just the Panthers, but I'm glad that SF gave you a relatively stress free Monday Night Football matchup. It is getting fun here in Chiefs country watching the fans. It seems like they went from cautious confidence right past panic and directly into broken despair. And the funny bit, the casual football fans are blaming Taylor Swift. As if that has anything to do with what happens on the field. The more serious football fans... seem to be blaming Jawaan Taylor and/or Patrick Mahomes, which is a bit more reasonable if weird that they would place any blame on their "chosen one." As I see it, some big contracts have narrowed and aged their roster to some degree. Combine that with defenses that have figured out how to defend against the Chiefs. Well to me the fall seems fairly inevitable, if just a bit ahead of the timeframe I had envisioned. I watched the same thing happen to the Blackhawks starting about this time a decade ago.

"Relatively" is the operative word there, because you don't know the intensity with which I watch my Niners. After Purdy's third pick, I almost shit myself. This dude was throwing picks during halftime. Hell, he probably threw a pick this morning getting his coffee. He needed to learn better much earlier than to throw anywhere NEAR Jaycee Horn. Woke up to rampant conspiracy theories from fans on social media that they think he was trying to throw the game, so we're not much better than...

...Chiefs fans. Smh. I'm far from a fan of Taylor Swift, and I agree, the coverage she gets is distracting, but of all the influence she has had culturally over the past few years, I'd never give her enough credence to think she can affect an entire football team's performance. I wouldn't call it "the fall" just yet; have you seen Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs? Looking at their remaining schedule, at least half of those games are basically gimmes, and the other half are the kinds of games where The Risen Christ plays it close and wins mostly likely in the last seconds, or DEFINTELY wins it in overtime, so I see them making the playoffs, where Mahomes goes off.

Lol, watching Get Up this morning, and Mike Greenberg, as he's recapping last night's game, called Jaycee Horn Brock Purdy's "favorite receiver." Fuck you, Greeny... that was funny. We deserved it, but fuck you nonetheless.

My Buckeyes beat Michigan. Finally, after 4 years of misery, WE BEAT MICHIGAN!!! This was my Super Bowl. I don't care about repeating the National Championship. We beat Michigan; we can lose out now as far as I'm concerned.

Oscar Piastri finished second in Qatar in Formula 1 leaving the gate open for the Driver's Championship for the final race in Abu Dhabi, and my 49ers beat the Browns convincingly in the face of Myles Garrett who leads the league in sacks. The gods let me have this weekend. With the exception of Piastri only finishing second (since McLaren's pit strategy sucked ass,) this was the perfect weekend in sports.

Welp, the Formula 1 season has wrapped up, and our World Drivers Champion is.... Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri's (my guy for 2025) teammate. Piastri led for the majority of the season, but a latter-season slide in performance and some really bad luck along the way allowed Norris to shore up the difference in points and ultimately take the lead. It also allowed reigning WDC Max Verstappen to catch up to the point this last race in Abu Dhabi had all three drivers in a position that, given certain conditions, any of them could have won it. Verstappen won the race, Piastri came in 2nd, and Norris finished 3rd netting him enough points to secure his first championship.

Anyway, waiting for 2026 when Cadillac comes in and Bottas comes back...

Michigan head coach fired "with cause" citing evidence of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, then immediately arrested on assault charges. Woof, I hate Michigan as much as the next insane Buckeye fan, but this? I was happy to finally beat them after four years, but didn't imagine this kind of catastrophe to ensue. Don't know what this means for TTUN, but even I can't muster the level of hate to enjoy some schadenfreude from any of this.

Well, is it "fallen" enough yet? That was going away with less than a whimper. Gotta say, it is somber around here this morning.

I only found out about this recently over the weekend. It sucks, but if the evidence is true, not much that can be done about it. Still nothing compared to Doctor Disrespect, being not in jail. At least the coach is arrested and is gonna face jail time. Disrespect is still out in the open. Only because he never made physical contact with those teenagers he was trying to get in bed with. Though everybody knows now. He lost sponsorships and stuff, but he's still making money.

I only feel bad for his wife and kids. Duty is forty something years old, and he's trying to fool around with 14 year olds.

I certainly did not see this coming. A playoffs without the Chiefs, much less without Mahomes, was not on most people's radars. Completely scoreless in the second half? I don't know what the Chiefs lost, but it was major. Even Travis Kelce commented on how he doesn't know what's happened to them. This will be the first time the Chiefs watch the playoffs/Super Bowl like the rest of us in over a decade: from home. And as much as I outwardly dislike Mahomes (he took two Super Bowls from my Niners,) when I heard about the ACL, it was a gut punch. I don't care who you are, NOBODY wants to see a generational talent like him get injured like that. I pray he gets treated quickly, and can be ready for 2026.

In other news, my Niners managed the Titans, the Saints beat the Panthers, 44-year-old grandfather Philip River brought the fear of God to the heart of the Seahawks before barely losing... this has been one of the best seasons to date. Parity has defined this season; almost all of the Super Bowl favorites from the 2025 standings have struggled into ruin, and teams traditionally known for failure or mediocrity have taken their place. It's December, and we STILL have no idea what to expect. The Bears, Patriots, and Jaguars are in the hunt, while the Lions and Ravens are on the bubble, and the Chiefs and Vikings are eliminated? Tell me that'd be the case a year ago, and I'd laugh you into the ground.

And the Cowboys. Oh, God bless the Cowboys. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Living in Texas, I've got no shortage of Cowboys' fans I call friends, but the one that took the cake yesterday was my friend who said he hopes they make it to the Super Bowl... AND LOSE, because he doesn't want o give Jerry Jones the satisfaction that he has run his program as anything close to successfully!! I laughed for a good 10 minutes; he's easily the first Cowboys fan that is a fan out of spite and not delusion.
