I only found out about this recently over the weekend. It sucks, but if the evidence is true, not much that can be done about it. Still nothing compared to Doctor Disrespect, being not in jail. At least the coach is arrested and is gonna face jail time. Disrespect is still out in the open. Only because he never made physical contact with those teenagers he was trying to get in bed with. Though everybody knows now. He lost sponsorships and stuff, but he's still making money.

I only feel bad for his wife and kids. Duty is forty something years old, and he's trying to fool around with 14 year olds.
Weirdest thing about this, a co-worker of mine and one of our collaborators both know that guy. And although I've never met him, I know the guy that coached him when he was in high school. It is weird because I'm only really hearing two kinds of stories about him. Tale one, someone shares an interaction they had with him and then says, "didn't seem like that kind of guy." And the other story I'm hearing is someone sharing an interaction and then saying, "I never saw him do anything like that... but he kind of gave off that vibe." I only spoke to him once, over the phone to set up an interview. Couldn't really say much about the interaction, the interview was just a standard let coach answer stock questions with general sports cliches type of interview. Not much to it.

It's a small world after all. I just learned something new today.

Last night was my personal Hate Bowl, Rams @ Seahawks, two divisional rivals that I hate who are both ahead in our division playing each other. It was a good game, but seeing as I wanted both teams to lose, it was a terrible game. Worst of all, the Seahawks debuted their "High Decibel Zone" rivalry uniforms and... they look fucking amazing. Probably the best uniform I've ever seen. As much as I "hate watched" the game, I was fawning over those uniforms the whole time. The pearlescent helmets and jersey numbers looked gorgeous under the stadium lights; a still image does not do them justice. Fuck the Seahawks every day of the week, but my God, those unis...

That Jake Paul v Anthony Joshua fight went exactly as it should have, even if it lasted longer that it should have. Paul looked straight up pathetic from the beginning, and the number of times he fell to the ground, hugging Joshua's KNEES, had me in tears I was laughing so hard. That final punch literally broke his jaw, in two places!! Couldn't have happened to a nicer asshole.

This is what I wanted when he fought Mike Tyson, but the fact he eventually got his comeuppance is still beyond satisfying. Paul needed that line between social media success and personal ambition fueled by that success made clear. I can think of an orange oligarch who is due for a similar humiliation...

I have very little knowledge of boxing, but I've read comments saying the ring was way bigger than a boxing ring usually is, the idea being to enable Paul to play his little keep-away game and run out the clock, so he could afterwards pretend he went the distance against Joshua. And that those knee hugs were desperate attempts to go for a leg takedown, which Paul really should've been DQ'd for.

I don't follow boxing at all, but that ring looked fairly typical, at least not noticeably abnormal. Either way, regardless of ring size, technique was going to win out. Paul was dancing around, but Joshua simply kept pace, wasn't exhausting himself, and stayed within striking distance. Took 6 rounds, but after Paul was OBVIOUSLY dusted, one punch netted him a broken jaw for all his peacocking and showboating. A TikTok video I saw put it perfectly: the fight looked like one between "a professional boxer and a fan." I can talk shit all day about NFL teams I hate, but I know the second I would deign to suit up and play against them, I'd be destroyed. Paul got destroyed, and laughably so. There was a moment in the 5th where Paul bounced himself off the ropes and looked like he was about to pass out; Joshua smiled like a shark licking the blood in the water off his lips. It was the embodiment of schadenfreude for anyone who has tolerated Paul's insufferable ego across all the platforms he has displayed himself on.

And kudos to Anthony Joshua; he clearly wasn't boxing so much as he was letting this "child" live out his fantasy of being a real boxer. I'm sure he didn't mean to break Paul's jaw, but the rest of us ain't mad, not one bit.

EDIT: The grabs at the legs were so pathetic, it wasn't even worth a DQ; the ref let him take the punishment he signed up for. Tough love... or more likely "sincere disdain."

Why did anybody tell me this sooner?! Glad to see Jake get his ass pounded hard. You think they can go for his more obnoxious brother next?

Lads, if you enjoy obnoxious douches getting knocked the fuck out, this weekend delivered in spades:

Thank you @Chimpzy!

I feel much better with this but his dumb butt still needs to go to prison. Though this will do for now.

Further cementing how far MJ is beyond LeBron -

That’s back when defense was played too.

Only Wilt got there faster, and he’s also in a league of his own

Me and my buddy did something similar to this YEARS ago in Forza 5. He was convinced his suped up Saleen sports car could beat my Formula 1 car in 500 miles at Daytona. He quit when he realized it was a lost cause. He thought his acceleration and straight-line speed could compete, but I hugged the inside line (shortest distance around the track) and never had to use the brakes, so every corner where he had to brake, he saw me in his rearview like the scene with the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. It was a race of attrition.

That said, it's a video game. In real life, those burnouts at the beginning would have absolutely cooked those soft-compound tyres. Not saying it wouldn't necessarily have been the same result over one lap, but much further, they'd likely have blown out or sent the car into a wall for lack of grip.

@Xprimentyl and @Chimpzy, more great news!

Again, couldn't have happened to a nicer asshole. That he backed out of the Netflix deal shows how little he understood what the assignment was. Boxing isn't entertainment; it's not a show for views; it's athletic spectacle, and when you step into the ring with someone who's trained in and perfected its most fundamental techniques, well... you get your jaw broken.

We fucking did it. My Niners knocked the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles OUT of the playoffs. We are a banged up, bruised, crippled, and hobbled ragtag group of 3rd stringers and "what's-his-names" that nobody expected to makes it this far, LEAST of all did they expect us to beat at solid team like Philadelphia, but we did it. We went into Philly, and with our ONE good arm, punched them right in the teeth. Still a tough road ahead, and who knows what will happen, but silencing the critics this week was my Super Bowl. Let's fucking GO!!!!

Congrats but it's more a commentary on the shitshow that is the Eagles though. The Niners had critics? With how banged up the Niners were/are, you guys are playing with house money and no pressure.

Yes, the Niners had/have critics. You should have seen the countless talking heads on every sports show all week leading up to yesterday; they'd be asked "do you think the Niners stand a chance on Sunday?", and 99.9% of responses were a scoff or a smirk followed by a succinct, matter-of-fact "no." The ONLY pundit who picked us was Alex Smith; he admitted it was a longshot, but he also acknowledged that our traveling triage ward was somehow miraculously playing for the 1 seed only a week ago, and people shouldn't sleep on a wounded animal backed into a corner.

If I'm being realistic... I don't see us going much further. We have the Seahawks again next, and we literally just lost to them a week ago. They say it's hard to beat the same team twice, but we are not the same team; we're even MORE injured now with the loss of Kittle to an Achilles. Kyle Shanahan might be able to draw up some trickery to disguise our wounds, and "any given Sunday" n'all, but I'm afraid I might have to be content with what we've accomplished thus far.

And "no pressure?" Are you kidding me? This team has made some amazing runs over the past few years, and we're approaching that time when the band inevitable breaks up. I want nothing more than to win a Super Bowl with this squad that has worked so hard and come so close so often. If that's not pressure, than I don't know what pressure is.

I was just saying the expectations with missing Bosa, Warner, Kittle, Ayuik, and several other starters can't be very high. If the 49ers had all those guys, they would probably be the favorites in the conference. The Packers expectations after losing Parsons went down as well obviously.

Oh, I get it, but this team is special, and they've been playing with the kind of heart that doesn't accept losing, especially not a point like this, i.e.: in the playoffs. We didn't, unexpectedly or otherwise, come this far to lower our expectations; we'll let everybody else do that while we play winning football.
