Hey Escapists, I have a question for you!

Ok, so I am 16, I'm a black belt in karate, and tonight I had sparring class. Towards the end of class I was free sparring with a woman who's in her early thirties, in shape, loves karate, and someone I have a more or less friendly relationship during regular classes. But today was quite different. Because you see, we are both black belts, and that means free sparring = anything goes. So naturally, we hit each other hard. She kicks me a few times. I block a few, I kick her she blocks a few. We exchange frequent blows to the head (which don't hurt that much thanks to head gear). Her tactic for my head was to put me off balance and punch me in the face. Mine was overwhelm, headlock, blows to the back of the head.

Now here's where the situation goes down. I don't know what her motive was for doing this but I believe she was angry I had been hitting her in the back of the head (which i somewhat doubt because she did give any indication this was bothering her, and the girl fighting her before me was employing similar tactics) . When our instructor said stop, I stopped and bowed to her, like you're supposed to. Does she stop fighting and bow back? No. She proceeds to reach back and punch me hard in the face (I'm wearing a face cage, but the blow slams my chin guard into my chin). I now have a large bruise on my chin, and my jaw is sore (to make matters worse, I have a pretty bad case of TMJ)

My question is: Was she being unsportsmanlike? Or had I deserved the blow?

PS: I asked her why after words, and she just shrugged. No apology. Nothing.

It sounds like either she was mad or she was operating on a different set of rules.

She was frustrated because you were kicking her ass, so she took a pot shot at you. I didn't do karate but in football thats a 15 yard, automatic first down personal foul for unsportsman like conduct.

I honestly feel like there is more to the story, but with what is provided she is unsportsman like without a doubt.
