Heh, I'm in the exact same situation as you. About to start my third university year, and I'll be 20 in a month and a half. I'm at home with my parents now for summer, but I'm going back to my university town next week to find a part-time job, and if I can get one then I'll stay up there for the rest of summer. To be honest, I hate my hometown (my family and a few friends are all that tie me to this place now), the West Midlands (UK) is such a shithole. Leeds, my university city, is such a great place, I love it there. As soon as I get a proper job, I'm staying up there, if I can, or else if I can afford it I'll try and move down to London. But I want to get out of my hometown permanantly as soon as possible, right now if I could afford it...
If I look out my back window I can see a field, from that you can probably guage how much there is to do here that doesn't involve money and/or alcohol. I'm considering London for my post-grad but I'm pretty sure it's alot more expensive there...

I want to move out east when I finish my schooling, hopefully to Nova Scotia. Anywhere but here would be very nice, since I cannot stand my family.

The state supplies an additional amount of monetary support to those living away from home here. So I bolted the first chance I got, and enrolled in a university as far away as I could get while remaining in the country. Absence does make the heart grow fonder, after all.

Unless you have a girlfriend with whom you need privacy there is no reason to move out, stay at home and save money and you will be better off in the long run.

Staying home, saving money, not taking responsibility at 20. These are all perks in my mind. The biggest things that grate me about living with my mother is when she asks me about my comings and goings. I don't feel I should really have to tell her where I'm going, and it feels very "I want to call their parents first" and not "oh, well enjoy whatever it is you're doing". The worst part is that I actually had more freedom before uni.

Another large perk is not having to deal with spam mail.

At the moment money keeps me at home, combined with the fact that everything is blatently a damn sight easier here. I'd rather be a lodger in my own home than rent a place at a horrible rate. Plus I can save money better at home for the ridiculous down payment I would have to make on a house eventually.
