Of course he does, most of the Final Fantasys are damn cut scenes.
You haven't played many Final Fantasies have you? the gameplay takes up far more time than the cutscenes, like every other game. Except maybe MGS.

OT: I would like to see more games like it, Heavy Rain was a pretty good game even if it did need a bit of improvement I think more games like it could do great things.

Oh true, in terms of duration the fights outweigh it, but in terms of the number of actual encounters versus the number of cutscenes, well...

Seeing as you can have infinite fights versus limited numbers of cutscenes...

I fail to see your point.

OT: Go for it. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

I think SE could make a good version of something like Heavy Rain. They have all the tool to do it and make a reslly solid story!

Square Enix hasn't been that popular with me, all their games lately have been short sighted into 'GRAPHICS ARE EVERYTHING A'DURRRRR!' I'm at the point where i might stop playing them all together, except their older titles like Chrono Trigger or the Final Fantasies before X-2. So far though i have been turning into an UBER fan of Bioware, who know how to make a game... unlike Squeenix.

Hey, cool. I can vouch for that. Heavy Rain was great, but if there are more games like it, then the novelty just wears off fast, now does it?

Well, I personally damn well loved heavy rain.
I really gotta hand it to Wata, he's been saying to Japan feelings I've had for a long time. He wants to bring game development there out of cookie-cutter stagnation and he wants to have the Japanese experience some top quality titles from the west. Obviously, he has a lot to gain by this; but I feel he really, truly does believe his words.

Maybe he was like them and scoffed at western games, but as he got deeper and deeper into the industry played them and found he really liked some of them? I, of course, just pulled this out of my ass - but I just want Japan to give us a chance.

They'd probably have better voice acting, too.
Square Enix? Good voice acting? Hahahahahha.

Anyway, the voice acting in HR wasn't that bad. If anything the characters were too stiff.

Oh awesome, The WEST is assimilating Japan now!

I wounder if there will be Japanese people completely batshit crazy about Western culture now. Like a... Japanese anti-weeaboo.

Story yes! QTEs no!
why not? it made the game good, since it wasnt annyonig QTE's.
I thought they were insufferably annoying.
but then what gameplay would you give the game?[/quote] I have no problems with them trying new things but some of those controls were awkward and sometimes it was just plain counter-intuitive. But overall, I think qtes are a lazy copout for devs. Parts of the game were cool but even just walking around felt more like I was driving a human. There's a reason every other game just uses the left stick to walk, it's not just people are used to it, people are used to it because it makes sense.

As for Wada wanting more games like that, I'm kind of glad he's not in a position to make a bunch of games like that.
Oh wait...

I quite liked the voice acting in Heavy Rain, Scott Shelby in particular
I think that the man who plays Scott Shelby, is actually the only american voice actor in the entire game.

No surprise here. Japanese games usually don't involve the player much (See: FF 13) and this QTE fest seems right up their alley.

I don't, it's not even game, just an interactive movie with horrid acting.
