I only have this to say:

"Fuck Square-Enix."

That is all.

Can someone explain to me why SE even released this game on PC after all those years? Wasn't there already a PC version of this game? I don't play FF so I don't know what the big deal is with this game.
I'm pretty sure it's because the original PC version doesn't work on today's computers. I could be wrong though.

no idea, there's a PC version of FF8 to, and honestly it'll take more then a texture update to make worth while.

as to why its popular .... no idea, I'm an FF6 elitist :D

but i find this video pretty accurate

Ah Square, playing with my heartstrings. Seems to be my faith isn't misplaced, but can we have KH3 now? And how about a really good Final Fantasy game like FF10?

lulz securom?

What is this 1995?

That shit will be on torrent sites within 24 hours of release, if not sooner. Why even bother?

It wouldn't surprise me if the pre-release is now out on like that.

Securom, everybody's favourite DRM. When are company's going to learn to release games without any DRM because it only harms the customers...never?...Okay.

I agree with wanting Kingdom Hearts III, but I'd rather have another Final Fantasy game like FF9. Stop with the bumping up graphics to scenery porn levels at expense of writing. Stop trying to make your stories "deep". Just give us a Final Fantasy game. Go back to basics. Go back to what made Final Fantasy popular.

It does if you put it some effort, like most old games.

In an age where the industry standard seems to be "screw over your customers as much as humanly possible", it's nice to see Square have a heart and a brain and actually treat people something close to right.
If they really wanted to treat their customers right, they'd sell it DRM-free. Pirates gonna torrent anyways, so all you're doing is penalizing those of us that want to buy it legitimately with a "feature" that at best is going to be inconvenient and at worst could seriously screw up our PCs [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal].

It just came out. In Nintendo Power, the lead producer (I forget his name) said that Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is the equivalent of Kingdom Hearts 3.

I had a feeling Square Enix would do something like this because they aren't really ones to screw over their customers from my experience of buying games from them for years.
On the other hand, it's not like them to use SecuROM. The only other thing I can think of by them that does is the Batman games, and I always figured that was at the demand of Warner Bros. All of their other PC games are Steam-based nowadays.

Oh seriously? They really did that? Urgh, that's it, I'm not buying a fourth console to play that damned series.

OT: That sounds like a nice thing to do. Free stuff is always good!

But I hope the DRM on the game doesn't interfere with modding. That's the only reason I want it.

They're giving a functioning version of the game for free to people who bought the game. Umm... does anyone understand the concept of free?

All this is is due diligence so they don't get into legal hot water for selling non-functioning products.

Nintendo Power's Summary: Gameplay wise, it is the most fun in the series. The story, however, is a convoluted mess that simply serves as a big ass retcon.
