A demo is not a "gift", it's an ad.
Anyway squeenix doing a dumb with final fantasy is a honoured tradition by now so whatever.
Not like I could care less.

Well... Fuck you too Square. Seeing footage of FFXV makes me not want to play it anyway. What I've hear and seen of Type-0 makes me think it will be the only good Final Fantasy to come out in 12 years. I might even pick it up day one, after reading reviews, if a PS4/Xbox lands in my lap before then.

Still this makes me feel reluctant about both games. They might feel Type-0 HD needs a little boost from an incentive such as the exclusive bonus demo to their next flagship game (like Crackdown's Halo 3 beta invite and many others). And, they could be holding back a full demo release because they think a lot of people might not like XV and limiting the demo to FF fans buying the more obscure title will curb the negative reactions to a more manageable level. (As said above, many publishers today like to avoid demos, because the flaws in a game could be seen before many redeem their pre-orders.)

So, who wants to bet Squenix does another round of totalitarian copyright strikes and C&Ds across the inter-webs, as soon as someone starts uploading demo footage to shown how great/shitty FFXV will be?

....I'm torn. This is a game I took interest in anyway and the demo was a great bonus to that, but the way Square enix is acting this week first with the trolling, then the re-re-releasing a 13 year old game at full price and now this "pre-order or tough shit" is wanting me to tell Square enix to shove this game up their ass.
Seriously, I was excited about type-0, but now I want to tell them to shove it. Someone needs to find the old folgies in charge, dust off their computer, and teach them about the interwebs. There's this thing called YouTube, and everyone can see it.

What gets me is that this is bad business. They should want EVERYONE to see this. They don't have the consumer faith to do this, and they're sacrificing hype for a larger title to increase sales of a smaller title. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pre-order... Bloodborne.

So... in the past week...
Square Enix trolls the whole world with a cheap PC port of Final Fantasy VII on PS4.
Square Enix reveals this port of a 17-year-old game will cost $16, more than any other version on PSN or PC.
Square Enix reveals they'll be putting their OTHER decade-old game, Final Fantasy X/X-2 on PS4... after many people already bought it on PS3 and Vita. It, of course, will be full price.
Square Enix reveals their big FF15 demo is limited to day-one, first-come purchasers of Type-0.

The fact that, after Bravely Default, Square also said "wow, JRPGs DO sell in the west!" and then, literally a few months later, when asked about Dragon Quest VII on 3DS said "sorry, but JRPGs don't sell in the west" makes me think that Square Enix either has amazing amnesia, or they have zero clue what they're doing.
I was gonna bring up the DQ7 thing. Thankfully Square of Japan is saying diffrent about it coming out to the west. Just needs to convince the dumbasses in the west to bring it over.

So....

Lets NOT remake FFVII untill we make a more popular Final Fantasy game that beats it in sales.
But you know....

1) Be a total fucking troll an re-release a port of a 17 year old game at a hefty price.
-Piss off as many fans as possible
2) Make the demo of the game that you want to beat FFVII with as limited as possible
3) Scumbag sales tactics
-"PREORDER DAY ZERO OR GTFO"
4) Take fucking forever making it (This could be excused but still)

That logic.

It's a logical progression for the series: "You must be this much of a fanboy to take this ride."
Personally, I said my goodbyes around the time FFX was published, I looked back once by playing a demo for FFsomethingsomething and felt like an old, bewildered Alzheimer's patient.

Hopefully this behavior will not spill over to the Deus Ex franchise.

I really don't get why we're complaining, we're all going to buy TYPE-0 anyway considering it is literally one of the best final fantasy games of all time... I was already going to buy it so it coming with a demo of my dudebro adventures XV is extra "addon" on the "insert food item here"!
Sure I was going to get Type-0 if it was on vita, I was waiting for them to announce it before I started playing it on my psp but I guess I don't have a choice now since I don't have a PS4 or an Xbone and I have no intention of getting either.

Do... do they not want me to buy FF15? I mean, fuck this is just... WWE makes smarter business strategies than this.

I can understand this. JRPG demos are always terrible. You can't divorce a section of a good JRPG from the rest of the game and hope it ends up good. There is basically no way a demo of Final Fantasy XV could ever paint it in a positive light to those who are skeptical. Frankly, I am surprised they are offering a demo at all. I wouldn't.

Square Enix is limiting the amount of people who can get a product they're making? Who could have seen that coming? Well apart from every Tomb Raider fan.
