Got a few of the "better/classic/oldskool/whatever" FF's on that summer sale on PSN, which i can now play on my Vita.
And i have some of the original releases after VII too, so aside for awesome Amano art, i don't see the appeal personally.

Twenty five years of--at best--mediocre, cloned and repackaged snooze fests. Nice.
Just out of curiosity, can you point me to the similarities between Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VIII, other than extremely broad things like "They use big swords"?
FF VI: "Focuses on a group of rebels as they seek to overthrow an imperial dictatorship."

FF VII: "Focuses on the eco-terrorist rebel organization AVALANCHE in their quest to stop the world-controlling megacorporation Shinra."

FF VIII: "Focuses on a group of young mercenaries who are drawn into an international conflict, and seek to protect the world from a sorceress manipulating the war for her own purposes."

Powerful group doing bad things, usually a government or big business. Rebels join forces to stop them. Every Final Fantasy game ever made.
Wait, Final Fantasy is a rip-off of Star Wars? I'm surprised George Lucas didn't sue.
Lucas didn't patent the idea, so he can't.

They could be bothered to collect them all, but they couldn't be bothered to make them all playable on the same device? Pass. If there was a "All of them for the PC" or heck even just a "All of them for the PS3" bundle, I might be interested, but on four separate consoles, none of which I own and one of which (The PS1) is not exactly common anymore? Nope.
I don't get how you fail to realize that it's for the collector value... You know what? Forget it. Just be that person. If it were all on the PC you or someone else would complain it wasn't on Xbox, if it was on Xbox you'd complain it wasn't on PS3, if it was on PS3 you'd complain that the games aren't on the original consoles.
You don't have to be a jerk about it, but I'm thinking that that acually *might* be part of the point here..it's less 'a collection of games to actually play' as it is 'Pretty boxed set'. Being able to actually play the things is a 'bonus' (and the fact that making actual working Nintendo cartridges like a *proper* collection would have would at least double the cost of the set, if possible at all, compared to optical-disc pressing).

I love me some FF. But it's too little, too late, Square. When you started releasing FF games for all the consoles out there, I had to find alternate ways to get them. For example, I had a GBA at the time when the original FF games were re-released, not a PSP. So I bought FFI, II, IV, V, and VI for the GBA. And I bought FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX for the PS1, back when it was cool. FFX was my first PS2 game. I got FFXII's Collector's Edition (That doesn't come in that bundle). I recently got FFXIII, which I admit was not that great, and I managed to get FFXIII-2's Collector's edition with a discount.

Even with all of that, it was still cheaper than buying that bundle. I mean, great bundle! And I know you're basically charging for the artbook and the exclusivity and all. But just no. I STILL don't have a PSP (And I never will) so that kills part of the deal. And hey, why not do a re-release in a single format?! You are STILL forcing me to own all consoles in order to enjoy that bundle! It's not that hard to do a re-release! Plenty of games have done it already!

Missed opportunity this. Would have bought it if they were all playable on my PS3.
