Apparantely Square Enix is going to make a new company, under the umbrella of SE, to make games that are specifically M-Rated and designated to appeal to western audiences.

So the ramification of this could be great. I mean, SE has always had great graphics, and creativity. If they should put that into a gritty M-rate game, it could be great. Its either that or Aeris covered in blood.

Could be. I mean in the last game there wasn't that many outrageous hair styles, besides Lightnings and her sisters. Still the whinnyness, there is a market for that.

That's probably why they're making this company.

I'm not buying into this one. A Japanese company is still a Japanese company whether it's aimed at Westerners or not. I would still expect heavy text screens, pre-rendered cutscenes, and poor storylines.

Whats wrong with prerendered cut scenes?

There's a market for people who want their game characters bitching? That's funny, but oh, so true. I'll stick to my generic space marine shooters and racers. The Japanese and whinny teenagers can have their JRPGs. Japan should stop exporting games while that is the main theme.

Haha that's sure to piss off some anime fans but I agree completely. Im always disappointing when I turn on AS on a Saturday night only to realize its anime night.

Lightning's hair was outrageous? Really? It was pretty damn tame...

I actually don't like this, seeing as every time I've ever seen a Japanese company try to Westernise something, the fail. Badly.

The only reason AS is here today is because it started out with Anime. Cowboy Bebop, Inyuasha and some other one.

Anything that looks like it needs supernatural hairspray is outrageous.

Japan should stop exporting games because they produce ones under a genre you don't find appealing? Don't you find that a bit idiotic. Its like if someone said that generic space marine games shouldn't be made anymore.

I am intrigued to see what comes out of it. I love SquareEnix, I always look forward to new ideas in gaming....and of course I am looking forward to see what they produce.

This allays my fears slightly about Squenix developing the Deus Ex prequel, I must admit to being slightly concerned when their logo appeared in the trailer.

As long as we're off topic, Adult Swim is only here because Cartoon Network wanted to air adult cartoons. The only adult cartoons that were available were animes like Cowbow Bebop, Inyuasha, Witch Hunter Robin and Wolfs Rain. Seriously, not everything from Japan is about giant robots or spiky hair teenagers.

I wouldn't worry about it, since there are obviously people who didn't see the news article (it went off the front paqe quite quickly).
