squeeee! metal gear solid and devil may cry hd rerelease!

so as you may or may not know, metal gear solid 2, 3 and peace walker are getting hd updates and will be released on the 3rd of february and devil may cry 1, 2 and 3 hd will be released on 7th feb for ps3 and 10th feb for xbox 360. considering ive never played any of these and ive been told the stories are good its going to be a great chance for me to discover what the hell was going on in metal gear solid 4 and devil may cry 4 because i was rather confused what they were all about. anyone else that cant wait for these to be released and do you see it as an easy way for the devs to make cash or a chance for people who havent had the chance to play them have the chance again? discuss!

Fortunately the Metal Gear HD Collection will not only feature the afforementioned titles, but they'll be packing the Subsistance and Substance versions of Snake Eater and Sons of Liberty respectively. You know what that means? That means Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 as well! Shame there's no Portable Ops in that collection, I really loved Portable Ops.

I'll be getting both. It's been a long time since I played any of the Devil May Crys, so a HD re-release will be great. Hopefully Capcom don't just change the resolution like they did with Resident Evil 4, I'd like to see a couple new textures at least.

Meh, it might give me a chance to figure out why it was I didn't like it. Plus I don't think I played 3 all the way through, so I can just focus on that to start. Plan, batman, sounds like.

I'm not sure about the Devil May Cry trilogy. From yonder Youtube video it would appear they have only touched the most visible of textures and just added a better outline to models. Capcom did the exact same thing to the two Resident Evil games they released on Live recently. Same great games, just better edges.


I know HD remakes are all the rage now so that they can make more money from old favourites, but at least devs like Konami and Sony IMPROVE upon the originals like the MGS and Ico collection. Personally I'm more pumped for these two HD collections most:

Sadly no, and I think it's because on a 360 the Psycho Mantis fight would be impossible without an extra controller, which is unfair to expect a customer to have.

Well I figured seeing as it's available on the store anyway that the Peace Walker download is a much better option. Apparently though the cut Snake vs Monkey and the Secret Theatre from Subsistence.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I was going to say, except changing "earlier this week" to "a few weeks ago". I haven't started on MGS3 or Peace Walker yet, but it's a damn good amount of entertainment for the price they're at. I'm not sure if I'll get the DMC collection, 1 & 2 were okay and 3 was pretty good, but I'm not sure if they're really in the number of titles I'd re-buy like Shadow of the Colossus.

I agree whole-heartedly on the Jak and Daxter front, never played Silent Hill so this should give me a chance to.

OT: YAAY!I loved Devil May Cry when I first played it so that's good and Metal Gear Solid 4 was one of the reasons I changed platform to PS3 a couple of months ago considering I loved the earlier ones.

Life is looking good for me over the next year (gaming-wise) I've just bought the Ico/SotC re-release and now there's all these plus the Sly Cooper HD release (and new game), now all they need to do is a Ratchet and Clank one!
