I'm curious to hear people's speculation on the project.
Will it be just another mediocre real-time strategy in the sea of RTS's that seem to currently be rolling, or will it bring something new to the table? Any chance it WON'T have various RPG elements? (highly doubtful from a company that develops primarily Role Playing Games).
Anyone have some inside information?

Would that be a bad thing? Dawn of War 2 had RPG elements in it and it's been pretty successful from what I've seen.

Is it me, or does it look like a cross between Company of Heroes and a Total War game?

Do we really need another WW2 RTS after Company of Heroes??

I know, but it's SquEnix. I'm just wondering if they will do a good job of it or not. I mean the only successful RTS they've done that I know of is Revenant Wings.
Though, they've done alot of turn-based ones. Maybe Order of War will be turn-based.
I know nothing about this title.

Im actually hoping it's alternate history, but it does look similar to company of heroes, you're not wrong.

Alternate history you say... And now the reason for its conception becomes clear. I'ma guessin' they're doing this as a counter to Valkyria Chronicles. Or not. But that was the first thing that came to mind, and would anyone really be surprised?

Hmm, am tempted to download the demo, but yeah, definitely getting a CoH vibe. With some C&C Generals thrown in for good measure.

You could just try the demo they have up on the site for download.

That would give you an idea.

Aww man. This is going to suck big time. Sorry but come on, another WW2 game. That alone lowers it severely in my eyes.

Anyway the demo is currently dling so in no time I will be able to truly ***** about it.

So why the hell didn't you tell me??

By the way, this wasn't developed by Square Enix, it was developed by Wargaming.net, so don't expect to see summons and magic just yet.

I must say that I'm intrigued. I just hope they spend as much time making the game as they did that website.

It's actually far simpler than Company of Heroes. Judging from the limited game time I have had with it, it is a cinematic experience without much tactical thought. Sure, the game looks pretty, but units can only be given the most basic of move orders and facing instruction, combat is not about tactics with maneuver and terrain seeming to make no real impact.

Not even a higher ground attack bonus? :(

I was hoping to be able to make a joke about Cloud Strife being the whiniest hero unit ever.

they might throw in RPG elements and if they do it right it'll be one of the best RTS' ever i know starcraft is a good one and I've played it rather intensely but macroing your army away was no big deal because youd have another one already queued up to go so if they make it where you can send your units out to battle but you actually want to try and keep them alive instead of sending wave after wave of men at the kill bots till they reach their kill limit and shut down (nickle for reference)
but rather i send out Pvt. Wills to a sniper perch on a hill and he does his job and does it well and he works his way up the enlisted ranks and becomes a much better sniper so that in 5 missions when he's still with me i know i can rely on him maintaining his forward position and his ability to be an effective sniper (maybe i'm wanting it to be way to real)

pretty much what i'm saying is i want all units to be valuable and grow as a character even i it's just in a tiny way (no flashbacks and back stories for everyone) not just the ones you need to build a lvl 5 research center to get
