Picked up the new SSX today.
This game is awesome, you guys.
Starting off, it looks fantastic. Graphics whores will be impressed.
The action is fastpaced and ludicrous, like any good SSX should be... which is why we should all forget Blur ever happened. The physics play very loose, but you don't feel like you've lost control ever.
The new features (wingsuits, low-collision runs, etc.) are all interesting, and are never distracting to the point where you can't have fun with the snowboarding.
My only problem with the game is the controls. The basic controls work okay for the game's new style, and once you get used to them, it's fairly intuitive. The problem are the alternate controls. You can only choose between default and "classic" controls, and no options for customizing these layouts exist. The classic controls not only are not a control scheme from a previous game, but are an absolutely terrible layout. The game is virtually impossible to play with those controls, so you'd better get used to the default
The story is, admittedly, a little hamfisted, but then SSX has never had a real plot. Besides, it's loads better than the abysmal disappointment that was Soul Calibur 5.
It does, per EA policy, have an online pass, and normally I'd have given the game a miss just for tht reason, but I like this pass. You can still play online, you just wont get credits awarded to you for pvp races.
