I just got stalker and the main issue I am having, besides extreme difficulty on average settings it inventory management. I tend to be the guy who in Morrowwind/Oblivion that would get 324238423489438lbs of gear and find a way to sell it and in this game the only workaround I can find is to use a corpse as a container. Is there any way to move goods faster? Mods? I got it from steam btw.

Just any help and tips would be great. The game is cool except having to leave behind TONS of loot... I don't get it... is this supposed to realism? Seems like tedium to me.

No theres no real way around it. You just have manage your inventory well and scarifice the lesser valuable items for the more valueable ones. There may be a mod you can install that will increase you weight limit though.

EDIT: Just before you install this you do realise that the upper weight limit is actually a lot of stuff. It does keep up with the realism and gives an extra challenge.

If you dont want that though use this.

... I've looked for mods but none of them work and steam is different from retail... in every fight I seem to leave behind 75%+ of the loot and it irritates me to no end. Maybe this is the horror I heard about.

At least you can fill corpses with infinite loot and drag it around but... takes a long time, and to get it from one zone to another you need to get a 2nd corpse and go back and forth xferring 50kilos at a time sigh...

time to get out the calculator and find out which items sell for the most versus their weights... sigh...

You're talking about STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, yes?
Don't bother selling anything. You won't get nearly enough for most weapons (especially pistols, forget about those). If you want money, hunt wildlife and collect their stuff for missions (boar legs, flesh eyes, bloodsucker jaws, etc), or artifacts.
I still remember killing all of the soldiers at the outpost in the first zone (sniper ftw), and I barely got enough to cover ammo and health packs...

A mod I can recommend is Oblivion Lost. It adds a ton of stuff, and makes the game better overall

You should be using this mod: STALKER Complete 2012 [http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009], kind of patches the game up to current-day standards. Also, the weight management is there for a reason, it's supposed to be a challenge, you're not supposed to be able to haul 2 tons of loot through the zone, outrunning a truck and gunning down everyone in sight whilst drinking vodka.

EDIT: You say that mods doesn't work, have you edited your fsgame.ltx file?

Wow... this looks even better rofl.

I don't want to make the game less challenging, but I don't want to spend 30min hauling loot. I quit WoW for this reason and I just feel that tedious tasks like that will ruin the game for me (in fact I love the game otherwise and have spent a few hours LF info like this so it will be worthwhile). So thx.

Thing is, the thing about STALKER is that you have to keep making concious choices between several things, do I want to carry all this loot, but risk being run down by Blind dogs? Do I need this artifact, or can I sell it? Weight limitation is a pretty essential part of the game, forces you to think before running away into the depths of the Zone, and you can by and large forget running about with more than two "primary" weapons, I usually go with an assault rifle and a shotgun (rifle for stalkers, shotgun for mutants), but unlike most RPGs, you can't really both have the cake, and eat it.

I don't know I cleared out a zone and had about 150kg of loot and I spent 15min carrying the loot to the Bar (in a corpse lolol). I can understand inventory management, i beat deadspace on hard(lol) with the level 1 suit which has like 8 slots on it. Maybe later in the game or if enemies respawn I might understand but atm its just a big waste of time.

Thx for the mod, I'm getting a brand new 22" widescreen monitor and some Sennheiser audiophile headphones this week and with the upgraded graphics I am definitely going to wait to play this game, and probably get the other games on Steam. Also playing deadspace on impossible (even though its ez mode.

One of the things I loved about Oblivion was that I was carrying so many goddamned potions and scrolls and shit that no matter what the obstacle was, I could bypass/overcome it by using the items. Was just nice to always have a backup plan. In stalker I just ate a whole lot of food to try and loosen the load. (It was so common I always seemed to have an excess)

Helpful tip is: Drop excess food.

Hope that helps. (By the way I only played the Pripyet one, I hope my opinion still applies)

But it's set in Russia/Ukraine, no?

Sorry, not much I can do. Try and manage the amount of ammo you carry (it has weight, and it stacks up fast) and sell items you don't need (ammo for guns you don't have, artifacts that you don't want, excess weapons, ext.). If you're playing Clear Sky, try upgrading your armor, as it can have a larger weight limit, and I know there's an artifact that that also ups the limit, though it's extremely rare.

But yes, it's supposed to be realistic. You won't be able to carry more then fifty kilos in real life (or, alternately, you can, in which case you should start smuggling crack across the border), and I've learned that if you ever get in a big battle you can stash your stuff in a chest and loot a good amount.

Any more problems and you can get some help from the STALKER group here: [link]http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/S-T-A-L-K-E-R[/link]
