I couldn't imagine myself doing this even if i was in a wheel chair, had no friends, hated outdoors and had a lot of money to burn on games. Hopefully Microsoft will award him for his dedication, if not then.. Mmmm. I got nothing.

Wonder how many doubles of games he has played? I remember when people would buy foreign versions of games to get the same achievements again.
I thought Microsoft fixed that? That used to be the same as what you could do with Trophies on the PSN, but if the game gets released in your country later on, the trophies will change to the language of your country, while the game will remain in the language from the country you imported it from (sometimes, sometimes the game translates itself to English as well as I discovered).

This is pretty impressive. I've never owned an Xbox so I'm not privy to how it works. On average, how much GS can you earn from a signle game?

They might have. But i remember people buying games like Toystory or other such easy achievement games and buying other copies. The amazing thing for me is that there are people buying/playing games that they have zero interest in just to boost there score. Me, when im sick of a game i stop playing and never buy games i have zero interest in.

A really bad one is in Lego Indiana Jones I think. Because you know how Lego games have codes to unlock everything, but you won't get the achievements for them? Well in Lego Indiana Jones you can type in the codes to unlock everything and you'll get all 1000 gamerscore right there. I remember I did it legitimately, and lent the game to my friend, only to find out he just did the codes and got an easy 1,000 GP.

Then there are people willing to do more productive things with their time.
Still its very impressive to the point where it becomes disturbing

That's completely and utterly more sad than impressive. If the gamer is a kid, then the parent really needs to start throwing the kid outside or get a part time job.

O.k, so he has a million, now what?

Speaking as someone who seems to have missed the point of the achievement score system, what does this actually mean?
You an me both mate, my initial reaction to this was 'so?' which swiftly evolved to 'and what does that mean?' Does he win a prize or something?

Its impressive in an unimpressive way I think if I got a score that high I would look at it and feel empty inside mind you all achievements and trophys do that to me anyway.

So he has played about 1000 games to utter nauseam, assuming each game has 1000 achievement points. That is about a minimum of 60 000$ spent in 9 years assuming each game has cost 60$. It is quote shocking that once you put numbers on it, I wonder how many hours that amounts too.

Hope he had his fun though

Jesus Christ guys, at least do some research before commenting about how this guy should go outside. He goes to the gym, has a job, and has a girlfriend. He probably rents a lot of games, or plays those that have easy achievements. He enjoyed getting the gamer score, and he probably won't get for 2 million. Don't make all these rants generalizations and hate for someone who might have more of a life than you.

That is an incredibly inflated number. In order to get it, you are needing to assume a lot since every game was one that was bought, was purchased on release at full price and had not dropped at all in value, and was a full AAA title that demanded a $60 payment. Those are some very large assumptions.

Odds are, a considerable number of the titles played were either purchased used or when reduced, gotten and returned through a service like Gamefly, or borrowed from a friend. That also doesn't take into account Arcade titles that are at a reduced price, or DLC which adds more achievement points to unlock. I mean, several larger titles drop down to around $20 within a year of release, especially sports game and the like when the next iteration is put out.

So yeah, while he's likely invested a significant amount of money into financing this, and an even more considerable amount of time, to say that it is a minimum of $60,000 is blowing it considerably out of the water.

A few years ago, a woman maxed out a World of Warcraft character without hurting a fly.

...And?

She's still living her life.

How will this change this person's life?

It probably won't.

Oh well, it's an excuse to drink away the pain and say it's celebrating something.

what is your point? did I not write "assume" clear enough, do I have to put in freaking bold? there is no way that you or I will ever know with 100% accuracy how much he spent on his games, hell he might have bought games for another platform and then the number might be higher.

I don't know how the hell I otherwise could have formulated that I was making a guess based on ASSUMPTIONS!. How the fuck am I going to know if he borrows his games from a friend? or stole them? I was making a guess, how about you make your own pedantic guess before you get on my case and give me shit over how I haven't considered every single variable under the sun.

Congratulations to this guy, a pretty sick achievement.

Sad to see that on a site dedicated to game-journalism, people start flaming someone who accomplished something game-related.

This doesn't seem that hard? Could probably get it done like 4-5 days. Just be a healer and do instances. With dungeon-finder you could accomplish this without ever leaving stormwind.

You people are the most bitter, cynical bunch of robots I have ever seen. The guy broke 1 million gamerscore and all you can do is sit there and claim how much of a "no-life" he is.

Unbelievable. Shame on you.

With that out of the way, that is pretty damn impressive. I would love to have even a quarter of that gamerscore. I'm barely sitting at 36k at the moment.

But. . . why? The guy is in good shape, obviously has a social life, he is now famous, and here you are, anonymously judging him over the internet. Come on, guy.
