perfectly valid (but a little ranting) comment
(reasonable response)
There is nothing wrong with ranting. It's often a great way to show others truth. So, call me ranting if you like, I just want you to know it's not derogatory to me.

Thanks for your reasoned response. You obviously thought about it. I don't agree, but I'm not going to gainsay you or try to refine your points. You seem to have enough insight that I will agree that we have room to disagree and not go to the pistols. You seem to be doing just fine on your own. Just keep what I've said in mind when you think further on this. But, more than that, please think further on this. You appear to know something's not right. You also show that you might belong as any negotiation table we might find or make.

Sail on.

This is Bullcrap, Stan lee made these characters, I don't care what pieces of paper say, HE MADE THEM.
This company wouldn't exist without him his name is their company's name, this is the epitome of corruption in this world.
Really? Because I think the epitome of corruption is making something, selling it to somebody else, and then claiming that since you made it, it's still yours and suing the person you sold it to for more money. Which is what I think is going on here.
Not how I read it. But I'm not the best at reading comprehension.

Sounded like he lost them because of a legal loophole from bankruptcy.

From what I know of the history of comics and from people in the industry I would count my fingers after shaking hands with anybody that has anything to do with comics, you know, just to be on the safe side.
I love the people who think Stan Lee is such a sweet old chap, you would think that comic book geeks would know better than to judge people by their looks or words.

Or perhaps to judge the content by it's cover? :p

this is an outrage! Stan should send Hulk to kick some lawyer's ass ! fucking rapacious, greedy suitmen...
What if the lawyer is She-Hulk?
This could get ugly...
Also, shouldn't the CREATOR have the right to give HIS creations to whomever he wishes? Even more so considering the suing company is named after him. This just doesn't seem right.
I guess the creation can't turn against it's own creator, unless it's frankenstein... actually it's not that it's right or wrong, it's just ridiculous.

besides, it's more probable that their heating this affair, just so the company gets more PR and gets more sales...

If Shulkie was still a lawyer (as far as I know, she's been disbarred), this would make for an interesting story arc, or one-shot.

You're thinking incorrectly. Stan Lee (the person) transferred the rights to his characters away from Stan Lee Media when it went bankrupt. Stan Lee Media, Inc. (a subsidiary of Stan Lee Media) is now suing Stan Lee (the person) because they think they deserve the characters.

So let me get this straight: guy creates characters, company he is in charge of owns characters, said company then goes bankrupt, characters are moved to other companies creator owns, then bigger company and creator owns characters he created, then bankrupt company says 1 million dollars your honor! i'm confused but through all this confusion I say retarded

I will openly admit to being confused by this article and it's wording. Also, is there anything in Marvel that isn't made by Stan Lee?

I'd suggest this is going to lead to families keeping dying artists on life support for decades, just to keep raking in the royalties.

If you think it wouldn't happen, think of an average guy. Half the world are less moral and caring than him.
[joke]Or worse, corporate hit-men hunting down rights holders just to free up their works.[/joke]

Sure it may happen but it's only going to be the truly despicable that even attempt to do these things.

Keeping a relative alive who has fallen into a permanently vegetative state is socially debatable but has merits but done long enough still ends in a brain-dead relative. Once someone's in brain death it's a none issue; they are legally dead, no amount of machinery will change that.

Hmmm... actually the corporate hit-men ARE more of an issue.
I can't believe I my natural cynicism didn't take it to the next level like you :)

Yeah, really, why pay millions for the rights to be transferred when you can pay a hitman $50,000 to have 'the rights' expire.
