Star Trek? Surveillance System??!!

i'm currently making my way through season 5 of voyager and its my first star trek series... only seen the 11th movie before this... it felt a bit shallow though... somehow i feel if the ship had a surveillance system it would be soo much better... seriously?! is there a reasoning for not having this if stated in previous series? is there a previous series or starship that has a surveillance system?? do let me know

Funny you should mention this. I just recently saw an episode of Next Generation where Jordi was reviewing surveillance footage from five years prior to solve a mystery. The surveillance was apparently so advanced, he was able to recreate it three-dimensionally in the holodeck! They only seem to have this awesome surveillance technology available when very specific plot points come up. Go figure. :S

They only seem to have this awesome surveillance technology available when very specific plot points come up. Go figure. :S

lol! thats tv show writers for you.. maybe they didnt finish installing it before voyager dissapeared?! also have u realised how the weapon system always fails when they decide to attack.. but the shields usually hold fine... seriously... i would think they would have better technology to handle this... go figure :S

Yeah, maybe it wasn't such a great idea to eliminate the concept of money after all, because everything they make clearly performs like they were made for free.
