No. For the same reasons I gave you last time. Again, people complain not because Lucas changes the films, but because Lucas's changes make the films worse. Conversely, people asking for a change to ME3's ending do so on the grounds that it was of poor quality both in execution and content (including more than a few literary faux pas and plotholes)

Mass Effect 3 was never going to set a precedent, it is simply the one in the spotlight right now. Art as an evolving and changing design had the precedent set before most of us were even born. Don't give us that argument.

I notice that if you look at the list of video games with multiple endings, Mass Effect is not included. xD

It would work if they just added cutscenes for the renegade ending. Because that would be the problem with indoctrination theory (which I do believe): you wake up, and then the viewer has the imagine the entire last half of act 3. Including how Shepard stops the reapers.

Also, just a warning, maybe it'll be different without Zeel, but people will jump on your throat for admitting to finding merit in indoctrination, so prepare for incoming "grasping at straws" "biodrone in denial" et cetera comments.

No I do not think that those people are hypocrites. From what I understand people hate the changes that George Lucas made to the original trilogy because those changes made the movies worse not because they thought it violated the "artistic integrity" of the films.

I don't think it's hypocritical, I think it's actually the same thing. People dissatisfied with changes that are or are not being made to beloved franchises.

Im starting to get the feeling that... this will never end. Either the world will still be ranting and railing on this a decade from now or itis going to fall and crumble into Apocalypse at the end of the year, and even then those left would STILL be bitching about it.

Actually it seems to me that the only ones still bitching are the ones who were against the the "Retake ME3" stuff. The ones who were all for a change have quieted down now that Bioware responded with the DLC and the announcement that they definitely won't be changing the ending.

Yes they are hypocrites. Also - emotionally immature people. Thankfully Bioware did not give in to their demands and only going to "expand" the endings and make a proper epilogue rather than change them completely.

Authors and artists shouldn't be pressured to change anything about their creations. Books, games and movies got annotations, reviews, and demos so chances of buying something that you wouldn't enjoy are low. If you still managed to buy crappy book or game - try and return money first, then criticize authors so they'll make something better next time. Demanding to change the substance of their creation is immoral. Even if you do it out of the good intentions. If the author wants to change something about his creation - its his choice and his choice only. You can punish him with criticism or money and thats it.

I believe this mass hysteria is subsiding now. It started with a few really loud small-minded people ("fanatics" would be an appropriate word, yes) and went on as a snowball, rolling down the hill, crushing all the journalists and reviewers that defended Bioware's right to finish their game their way. This just shows how petty people can be and how little they actually read, because if they did read more sci-fi novels they wouldn't mind grim endings, bad endings, sad endings, cliffhanger endings, any endings at all, as long as they gave closure (using your imagination also helps) to the otherwise great read or game.

I'm of the opinion that Lucas can change the movies if he wants. They're his movies and if he didn't feel that his artistic direction wasn't fulfilled the first time then fine (I mean everything he touches now turns to poison but whatever).

All I ask is that he releases the theatrical edition as well so I don't have to put up with his bullshit. The worst part is he knows damn well the theatrical edition would make him millions so I don't really understand why he wouldn't release them other than out of spite. Bundle them with your re-re-re-re-release if you must, but just please give me the option of the original.
