Which is your favourite and why? Mine's Star Wars, merely because I found the world immersive, and the Jedi/Sith remind me of Samurai.

My oh my... It's the verses thread to end all verses threads...

As a quick note, vs. threads are not looked upon kindly here as they have a tendency to devolve into massive flame wars.

er, well then, I just hope people can be responsible and not get carried away, there's no correct answer as it's entirely subjective, just thought it'd be an interesting thought for people to wake up to and I'm curious as to what has had impact on people's lives.

*Versus Warning: Thread sliding into fanboy argumentation predicted*

OT: Personally, I prefer Star Wars - a galactic empire of ridiculous proportions, good and bad individuals in all species, clear-cut and not-quite-clear-cut evil in many forms, plantes ranging from uninhapitable rocks into planet-wide megacities. Whereas Trek setting feels a bit... more cliche on the whole. Many races have a highly typical stereotypes what aren't broken all that often, the Federation is run by idiots and Plot!Immunity! and while many of the series and movies have been good there is only so much of "Who shall Kirk seduce next?" one man can take before it becomes boring.

But then again, there are equal moments of awesome in both settings.

Before the prequel trilogy and the "digital remastering" of the old Star Wars films, I would have said they were on an even keel (even with *shudder* Enterprise to consider). Now I prefer Star Trek, especially Deep Space Nine.

Yes loads of people will get all personal about this subject, which is sad as both worlds are better than reality. But it's just the aspects of each world that people like is what I'm interested in.

Star Wars. Nothing against Star Trek it's just that Empire Strikes Back is my all-time favourite film. I've seen a little of Star Trek and I thought the latest film was awesome, but at 18 I'm way too young too remember its glory days, and unlike Star Wars where I can just go and watch 3 films, I really don't fancy going back and watching a a billion seasons

Star Wars, but only because I've never really gotten into Star Trek. It just didn't hold my attention like Star Wars did.

Star Wars by default, never seen anything Star Trek out side of the J.J. Abrams movie, it did make me interested in Star Trek though, I may get around to watching some of it someday.

Star Wars all the way.
Star Trek is just too "Nice" for me to perfect I guess.
I like my hokie religions and mysticism in my Sci-Fi I like a big bad Emperor, though not having Patrick Stewart is a big let down.

Star Trek. I just like the overall feel of the universe. Star Wars is great for a few cheap thrills btu Star Trek has always held me with the plots. That and Janeway + Piccard = Captain Win.

Star Trek. There's much mroe good ST material than SW, and with the prequal trilogy SW has turned into a colossus of arse.

Star Wars, I grew up on it and there's a huge nostalgic bias for me. I've barely even seen any Star Trek, so I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really a qualified judge.

Ok wow, use the search bar. But Star Trek for sure. You could do worse than hope our future is like that(minus the Borg of course).

I'll vote Star Wars simply because I never bothered watching/reading anything about Star Trek.
And like someone else mentioned, it's all about what you grew up with.
