Looks interesting. If they can avoid the "small universe" trap that Clone Wars all too frequently fell into then I think they're likely to have a good series on their hands.

I was worried the main character might not be a Jedi. I don't think people would know it was Star Wars if they didn't force(heh) that in.

Stiff and unnatural animation, lazy hackneyed dialog, and execrable emotionless voice acting by people obviously recorded individually (as opposed to in a group where people tend to give a shit).

They obviously didn't give a crap about this series, so neither will I!

The chick in pink Mandalorian (Fett) armor is weird because unless things changed the Fetts were the last Mandalorians. Is she Boba's kid? Or is there only being one Mandalorian no longer canon?
there only being mandalorian was changed years ago when karen travis started writting her books with them being thousands of them

then the clone wars wanted to change that again so karen took her ball and left and now her works are no longer canon but the clone wars version of them is

I am so excited for rebels greg freaking wiesman is working on it
Man, that Mandalorian stuff's god-damn confusing o_0

Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic about this: despite the faults, I still really liked The Clone Wars, and the first season of anything is always going to be a little rough around the edges. We'll have to wait until it actually airs, of course, but eh, I'm all for giving it a chance; lord knows it'd probably be unfair to disregarded it outright based on a single trailer (something people are getting increasingly fond of...).

It looks alright. I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it, but if it appears on Netflix I'll give it a look.

I've already made my piece with Star Wars continuity and I view each "trilogy" and associated official media as separate but thematically tied canons. This does blow apart "Force Unleashed" as canon though, which isn't much of a loss really.

My only gripe is that they are just playing with familiar star wars stuff and not trying anything new (to any significant Degree). While not Canon, the Expanded Universe showed that Star Wars can be more then Jedi and Lightsabers. The Pink "boba-esque" bounty hunter really hit a nerve... could they not think of an original Bounty hunter design? You know, try to do their own thing rather then pilfering off established franchise icons. I'm all for a female badass bounty hunter, just not too keen on a gender bender fett (and if they make her related to the Fetts in some way... well, fuck, I don't know what I would do).

My initial reaction was "garbage," but I had to remind myself that this is now Disney property, and not being screwed up by George Lucas. So as long as it isn't some watered down nonsense, it looks interesting enough. In that, I still don't know that I will really watch with bated breath, considering it's likely to be more of a children's show. Then again, I said the same of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, and that was one of the most compelling TV shows I'd seen in a while!

Did Order 66 get anybody?

I mean...seems like the Jedi Order is doing pretty good, all things considered.

I know it's nit-picking, but Star Wars is SO MUCH COOLER than the lightsaber. Would it really be asking to much for them to show a little self-restraint and just make some SW media without putting the focus on stupid Jedi?

Well, it only makes sense for that character to have Mandalorian (boba-esque) armor as she [i/]is[/i] a Mando.

(And can I just say how great it is that we've got a non-pacifist Mando who isn't a mass-murdering psychopath? Fucking Clone Wars.)

OT: That was a bit of a letdown; lots of action and one-liners, not much plot. But then again, it's Disney marketing to kids, so that's to be expected. The Clone Wars was the same way and when it wasn't crapping over the EU (Mandos, Maul, and Dathomir come to mind) it was a pretty good show. Maybe this one will walk the same path.

Ok, that just means its lore friendly, it doesn't change my point that the concept is WELL trodden and more then a little tired.

We know little about the character beyond what the studio has divulged, so she could be an interesting and unique breath of fresh air (I'm not so sure about it), but that isn't my issue here. It's much the same issue I had with the Prequels, aesthetically at least. Much of the imagery and set pieces were made to echo the original trilogy, but rather then being thematically poetic it just felt too familiar and more like eye candy to fill theater seats.

I just wish that Disney would do something of this caliber NOT marketed towards kids, but instead marketed to the parents of said kids that have been waiting desperately for something good to come out of Star Wars after all these years. Maybe it will be good, despite the overall age group being targeted, but damn, can they not hire some new animators to make it look less "Disney" and more "Star Wars"-esque, if that makes any sense...

I think this one might have been better off leaving the jedi out of rebellion origin (Who am I kidding, this is SW). All it looks like to me is them retelling A New Hope with different characters.

And as a side note, why did they drop most of the sound at the end of the trailer when they cut gravity and everyone was floating around? Did they think that it being zero G meant the sound would be affected in some way?

I love when people talk about something like they know what they're talking about, when they don't. The female is not a Bounty Hunter, she is a Mandalorian, there are lots of them, and they use the same armor, really, it's the Jango Fett armor, ir's like their stormtrooper uniform for the mandalorians, she only decided to paint her because she could, hell, even Obi Wan used one when infiltrating their planet. So yes, her like most of the Mandalorians don't have anything to do with Fett, except because of the armor and race, and like i said, it's the Jango Fett one, it is different from Boba's armor.

Well... The worse thing I could think about this series is that it would be worse than Tron Uprising/Motorcity, yet will last longer than those Disney XD shows because it's Star Wars...

With that said, I'll watch it just to find out when Lando pops up, for the most part... (Please may he have [more than] a two-part episode in this show... *lightsabers crossed*)

Seems pretty cool, I'll definitely give it a watch.

Not sure why people are complaining about the voice acting. Seems fine to me? Yeah there seems to be an abundance of "too cool for school" one liners and other lines. But... 1) It's a trailer and 2) That's basically anime in a nutshell, especially anime with any action. Which everyone seems to love.

We'll see how it goes.

What's with the tone? I jumped the gun I admit that, and someone already corrected me (without the condescension), but nothing else I said is irrelevant as a result.

Before it even starts I'm not doing a dick measuring contest on who knows star wars lore, just know I've consumed vast quantities of expanded universe content, from books to games to comics, most of which is largely irrelevant or conflicts with "official" canon. I KNOW what a mandalorian is and I knew she was one. With what I now know I'm glad she isn't just a Fett knock off, but why did she have to be a mandalorian? Because they wanted that badass Iconic armor... and why is that? Because of Boba Fett (and maybe Jango, depending on what you thought of the prequels).

My point still stands. It looks like they are playing with familiar and iconic Star Wars concepts rather then forging their own niche in the Star Wars mythos, which will ultimately leave it without its own identity. It's like Paint by numbers Star Wars.

This isn't to say it will be bad or that it can't do something to set itself apart, but that from what is shown so far it's only appeal is that its more Star Wars, something that has been thoroughly milked over the last 40 years.
