I was excited for the game because it was supposed to be one of the best Star Wars games ever or at least that is what all the interviews and such told us. When I played the demo I was really disappointed. Sure it was fun and all, but it wasn't even close to what they made it out to be. I still had fun throwing things around and the targeting was a problem. I hated how you had to kill the final boss. No warning at all. I sat there throwing things at it for five minutes with its health nothing but it would die so I walk up to it and all I have to do is press two buttons.

Even though I was disappointed I did enjoy the demo. Maybe the game would be better if I played more because the demo wasn't that long. Despite saying all these bad things that would make you think I hated it I actually liked it, it just wasn't the greatest Star Wars game I have ever played. It is worth renting, even buying in my opinion as I have always been a Star Wars game fan.

Never again will I buy a Lucas product.

I no longer desire to be one of the contributors to Georgey's large, grotesque ego(belly).
So true. I've given up on Star Wars. Call me old-fashioned and stubborn, but I'm not even going to bother trying it. It's not Star Wars. The only thing that is proper Star Wars is episodes 4, 5 and 6.

I am very aware that that sounds a bit elitist and closed-minded, but nothing else comes close to the magic of the original movies. Episodes 1-3, the Clone Wars movie and cartoons, the novels; I've tried it all, and it's always the same.

The main problem with the game, it doesn't star Kyle Katarn. God I wish they would continue Jedi Knight already.

I am definatly looking forward to this game (pre-ordered) and look forward to upgrading skills and such, which the demo does not even give you a glimpse of...

There maybe even powers that we haven't even heard of yet: because i can't see Darth Vader choosing some "regular" Force Adept for his Padawan...

Maybe wrong place but why would Vader have a Padawan when:

1.Padawan is a Jedi term
2.Mysteriously not in any of the films.
3.Breaks the two sith rule.

I played the demo and liked it enough to play it through a second time.

One thing that did pull me out of the experience completely was the fact that the apprentice can force lift entire TIE-fighters, but somehow pushing/lifting the AT/ST over the edge and the final battle in the demo is beyond his powers...

(i understand why from a gameplay perspective, it is a boss after all, but still it breaks the suspension of disbelief).

And quick-time events are always annoying.

Oh and I hope the story will be better than the demo suggests (evil apprentice discovers evil isn't all that it's cracked up to be, decides to turn against his masters, but doesn't kill them because he's good now). I really hope i'm wrong :)

But I liked the demo, and i am really looking forward to playing a good star wars game again.

If the question is whether or not it's Canon, the answer is yes. It's one of the first Lucas Arts Star Wars games in a long time, that's not based directly on a movie.

Love starwars and hate the "Apprentice." Backwards holding of the lightsaber is dumb and destroys any sense being a jedi/sith. Instead of allowing more ways to block/dodge the lasers they allow the Apprentice to absorb a ridiculously high high amount of shots; the stand still blocking and dashing just doesn't cut it. Force grip is cool, but useless in close range combat. The quick timed events system like in God of War seems kind of tacky and does not seem very jedi like. I liked jedies, because they can fight gracefully or just charge like crazy and though I know I shouldn't expect both but the crap stands still blocking is gay and the rapid fire laser cannons isn't very starwars like, how are the jedis supposed to block that and in the game you can but the apprentice make no attempted to block anywhere near where the lasers are hitting him but decides to swing his lightsaber around acting like he is blocking them and it takes you out of the experience.

But that's just what I think....

Oh and too many of the same objects and too many explosives, the bad camera kept making me blow myself up.
he can do all that stuff cause hes badazz

Okayyyyy...

1. who cares?

2. He's a SECRET APPRENTICE and this is BETWEEN episode 3 and 4

3. tell me what the sith rules are?

And also this is one of the games by Lucas that are going to be GOOD and original but way to rip it apart dudes....

Oh and Tjeb I liked your input, but still if he didn't turn good then why would he be killing all the storm troopers?

I'm no Star Wars fan but I'm sure I'm going to be playing it a whole lot. Most of my friends bought Soul caliber 4 (not sure about the numbers, its the new one that just came out) just because Yoda and Darth Vader were in it.

Well at least in the demo he kills the stormtroopers because Vader tells him to; he is ordered to kill everyone he meets so that there aren't any witnesses left to tell the emperor that there is a new kid on the block. I do wonder how they'll explain all the missing star destroyers and jedi to the emperor though.

But we'll have to wait for the actual game to fill in any plot holes i'm making up now :)

I'll give it a go...

1) Well, I can see Vader using the term "padawan", just because he once was a Jedi.
2) Who knows? Maybe you die at the end? Or somewhere in the interim. You end up being one of the guys who starts the rebel alliance, so it's likely that even if you survive the game, your life expectancy isn't all that high in the coming days.
3) The two-sith rule... ug. Let us not speak of this thing, for it is retarded and would be impossible to execute.

I was excited about this game until I saw a video that showed lightsabers have about the same power as a whiffel bat.
Use them in conjunction with the force. Placing lightning on your saber ,or channeling force push through a saber slash is pure win. Also, why the fuck would you want to use your saber? I was too busy picking shit up, charging it with lightning, and chuck fucking it at stormtroopers. It's called the FORCE unleashed. not whiffel bat unleashed.

But surely you'll admit that Jedi cutting people in half with lightsabres is kind of an important part of the package. I can see why they powered down the lightsabre (the reason is so you can do force-channeling sabre combos without defeating your enemy on the first swing), but I do wish they'd found a way to make the sabres seem more like sabres.

Of course, I'll still be buying the game.

As mentioned above i am worried, in an extremely nerdy kind of way. When you throw in all this "Expanded Universe" stuff it leaves plot holes and things stop making sense. Now granted, i haven't played the game, but looking at the movies the idea of Vader having an apprentice, even a secret one, is unthinkable, whether he dies or not. Same thing goes for Anakin's apprentice in the new animated movie, even if she dies or disappears in the end, there is no trace of her in the movies, and it all feels weird. So claiming that this one is an official part of the Star Wars canon worries me, I have always felt ep. 1-3 were pretty good because watchiing all 6 of them you can see the storyline smoothly running through them. If you would play The Force Unleashed in between the movies odds are that you would be confused. Granted i should save my nerdrage until I have actually played it, but... I've got a bad feeling about this.

I would rather see a continuation of the Jedi Knight saga, which is one of the few Expanded Universe installations i enjoy, mostly because it's pretty much out of canon but also because so far the game play has been excellent, Jedi Academy is one of my favorite games all time.

3.Breaks the two sith rule.
1. They refer to him as the apprentice; if Vader referred to him as a padawan I missed it.
2. In canon, the character supposedly dies or disappears before Episode IV. That ending is obviously not what you are going for of the multiple endings, though I don't know if those actually made the final cut. That info is from a relatively old interview I saw with the developers on IGN.
3. That was never a hard and fast rule; rather, it was simply the best way for Sith to exist without constantly fighting each other rather than the Jedi and whoever else.

As to the game itself, I played the demo and enjoyed it a lot. The camera and inability to move at all when defending were the only problems I had with. Rather large problems for a game these days, but it still managed to be fun, so I have to give it credit for that. And I didn't have a problem with the button sequence against the AT-AT. I wish I had known about it before hand, because it caught me off guard, but it made for a pretty cool finishing move once I knew what I had to do.

I never really tracked TFU but I downloaded the demo cause I wanted to have fun choking people again. After playing the demo once before my xbox decided to die, first impressons were good except the targeting system that was annoying as I threw every box at the enemies and ended up unable to target them again due a sea of rather boring looking black boxes. I didn't mind the quick time event because I'm used to button mashing. I loved the attack, lightning, force push combo that was awesome and there something satisfying about throwing stormtroopers off extremely tall things or slamming them into walls.

Also why are people calling the end boss an AT-AT. AT-AT's are the 4 leged walkers from the snow battle on Hoth in V. The 2 legged version is an AT-ST.

Yub yub, your right about the AT-AT/AT-ST mix up, i was wonder what demo the others were playing because mine certainly was lacking an AT-AT.

Though after playing the demo, it makes me cry inside at why they haven't just made a new Jedi Knight game :( It would be vastly superior.

Oh, I thought that looked wrong. Everyone else said AT-AT so I figured I was just remembering it incorrectly, and didn't bother to check.

To respond to someone who mentioned the Jedi Knight games... have there been any announcements or anything at all about another game in that series? Those games were the best Star Wars games I have ever played if you discount KotOR, and that ranks as high as it does more due to storyline and HK-47 than the combat.
