Also why are people calling the end boss an AT-AT. AT-AT's are the 4 leged walkers from the snow battle on Hoth in V. The 2 legged version is an AT-ST.
Oh, I thought that looked wrong. Everyone else said AT-AT so I figured I was just remembering it incorrectly, and didn't bother to check.

To respond to someone who mentioned the Jedi Academy games... have there been any announcements or anything at all about another game in that series? Those games were the best Star Wars games I have ever played if you discount KotOR, and that ranks as high as it does more due to storyline and HK-47 than the combat.
As far as I know there's no mention of any in the pipeline, sad really, they really are the best Star Wars games out there (excluding KotOR and the OLD galaxies)

I don't see why people are so mad about this game. It's basically God of War with lightsabers, and as such is definitely earning a spot on my shelf. Kratos, Dante and the Prince of Persia can't move while blocking or kill enemies with one sword swipe either. I actually LIKED the QTE kill for the AT-ST - it looked awesome, and it wasn't located obnoxiously in the center of the screen.

That being said, the targeting system was pretty terrible, and it doesn't make much sense that Force Grip is an instant kill while none of your other moves are, and holding your lightsaber backwards is lame. A simple "allow you to turn around while blocking" fix would solve these problems.

I've got a great idea! Since we're doing it with TFU, let's make wild assumptions about other games that have yet to come out, instead of, oh I don't know... Waiting until it comes out to know if it's actually good or not!
Yeah, we'll spend $60 and play economic roulette with our entertainment (sarcasm). Judging the game without buying it, is the entire point of the demo in the first place.

The OP and others have made it clear (despite it being an obvious detail that didn't need explaining) that our observations are only that of the demo.. nobody is claiming to know more about the game than what they have seen and I don't see any problem with stating a myopic perspective as long as the context of that perspective is clear (which is the case here).

And if you didn't want to have any discussion about a game until after you played it, then why are you even in this thread?

well if the demo taught me anything, it's that throwing things is fun, and stormtroopers are the most frail things in the star wars universe. (even kota's men can take 2 hits with the saber)

Oh and Tjeb I liked your input, but still if he didn't turn good then why would he be killing all the storm troopers?
Well at least in the demo he kills the stormtroopers because Vader tells him to; he is ordered to kill everyone he meets so that there aren't any witnesses left to tell the emperor that there is a new kid on the block. I do wonder how they'll explain all the missing star destroyers and jedi to the emperor though.

But we'll have to wait for the actual game to fill in any plot holes i'm making up now :)
really? :) :) dude this game is gonna be great. :D

The demo was fun.

But you might want to read the latest issue of The Official Xbox Magazine. They gave it a 7.5 out of ten (I know it's not actually out for the public yet, but game reviewers get early copies, shhh). They said there were some annoying issues with the game.

It might just be a really good rental, instead of paying $50+ for it.

So, has anyone heard anything else about the attributes/skills we will be able to develop/learn??

Would these things place in the RPG-type, or wanna-be-really-bad-but-makes-game-worse-for-it style games?

I loved the demo, and went out to pre-order it the second I finished. I never had any targeting problems, camera problems, any of the stuff people complain about so this has become one of my most anticipated games.

And even if it sucked, I'd still have to play it for the story. Damn it.

I loved the demo. But I can see why people might not, it does boil down to quite simple fun. If you play it as a real badass I think it improves it somewhat. (e.g. Walk slowly towards a group, pulling panels out of a wall next to them, force pull one slowly towards you then force lightning him and drop him on the ground etc.)

RE: Wiffle Bat Lightsabers

That's a common thing in Star Wars games, the only real "cutting people up with lightsabers." It hasn't really ever been done well enough to my idea of what it should be. But with Force Unleashed using the force more.. well.. unleashed, it shouldn't matter much

and RE: Expanded Universe = poop

The largest and most successful star wars franchise was all Expanded Universe stuff. Dark Forces/Jedi Knight ftw

Aww, you're gonna make me blush.

And how come people think the lightsaber isn't powerful enough? In every mode but Sith Lord it's a one hit kill!

Maybe wrong place but why would Vader have a Padawan when:

1.Padawan is a Jedi term
2.Mysteriously not in any of the films.
3.Breaks the two sith rule.
1. They refer to him as the apprentice; if Vader referred to him as a padawan I missed it.
2. In canon, the character supposedly dies or disappears before Episode IV. That ending is obviously not what you are going for of the multiple endings, though I don't know if those actually made the final cut. That info is from a relatively old interview I saw with the developers on IGN.
3. That was never a hard and fast rule; rather, it was simply the best way for Sith to exist without constantly fighting each other rather than the Jedi and whoever else.

lol it'd be funny if the apprentice killed darth vader and then the emperor then it lead to some different reality were the apprentice rules the universe and the part where they try to blow up the deathstar with luke and the apprentice jumps up and smash the ships into the ground

As to the game itself, I played the demo and enjoyed it a lot. The camera and inability to move at all when defending were the only problems I had with. Rather large problems for a game these days, but it still managed to be fun, so I have to give it credit for that. And I didn't have a problem with the button sequence against the AT-AT. I wish I had known about it before hand, because it caught me off guard, but it made for a pretty cool finishing move once I knew what I had to do.
darn it i had a whole paragraph written on a different dimension where the apprentice killes the empire....

If it lives up to expectations it could be quite close to winning GOTY.
Laughing Out Loud.
I didn't say it definetly will, GTA4, Fallout 3 or GOW2 will probably win it. It has a chance of being a close contender.

that sounds about right. why would you crash a tie fighter when you could shove a chainsaw in a aliens face?
